Chad's adventures of shaving, officiating, and life

The way I look at it, you have another year to gain experience, another year to garner support, another year to help fix what is wrong from within. People will respect you more for being the bigger man in this.

Also, you don't know what challenges lie ahead of for you and your family. Maybe now is not the right time. Take what is given to you at this moment and do what you can with it...and everything else will fall into place.

Don't feel defeated, take this and learn from it. There is always something to learn. I think I can speak for the rest of us here...we are very proud of you and how you handled yourself.

Nice shave and initial impressions of the soap, Chad.

On the KOC stuff, I think you're looking at it from the right perspective. HE is not going to throw something at you that you cannot handle, and at the same time, will not set you up for failure. Perhaps your burden will be, as you stated, to help this man remove his head from his fourth point of contact and help move your council forward in unity. Continue doing what you are doing by leading by example, and things will turn in your favor at some point soon. Keep your head up, brother, better times are ahead!
A winner’s shave Chad, even though it may not feel like it much.

I’m sorry to hear that things didn’t go as planned. Even though you didn’t win, it has brought a truckload of issues up to the surface for your council to ponder for the next few months as the new term kicks off for the incumbent.

Forgive me Cadre, I also am going to go on a spiritual tangent here...

This guy knows now how close he is to loosing his place as leader and hopefully see in time that he has some heart issues to work on, that should push him extra hard to improve. You’ll be there too, not simply watching over his shoulder, but to help guide in a patient and loving manner, in a unique position to continue to try and mend what has happened and help this guy find his sense of true Christian service once more. I’m glad you aren’t giving up! Until the next vote, it’s time to work with and together! The path of our discipleship under Christ is a tough road, a constant struggle of humbling our own will and selfish desires, but in the end we can be confident that God will be glorified through it all.

Thanks for shaving your burden Chad!
Sorry to hear that Chad. There seems to be a current of support for those that "talk tough" like it's something people should be proud of. Things will run their course and one way or another it will be shown that continue to be successful in any time of leadership that involves large groups, you can't alienate half of them. I personally can't understand listening to someone claiming ownership of community or claiming they are the only ones that can possibly do a certain job, and then feeling any type of support for that. I suppose one message is, we end up in life where the journey takes us and not where we plan to go.
Sorry to hear about the election. He wanted you in the position you are in for a reason. Whether it is to assist bringing this guy back to where he should be, or just getting others to see the folly of his ways, or some other reason. I am not one to even guess to know His method. Just know that this is where He wants you at this time.

You all responded with similar things. And with that I just want to say thank you! This gave me an opportunity to just reflect yesterday and accept what happened. I am moving forward stronger than ever. Tomorrow I will be sitting down with the Grand Knight and just trying to have a man to man talk and hopefully get a lot of this worked out, or at least out in the open so things can be worked on.

Appreciate you all!

Straight Shave #188

Razor: Feather SS
Blade: Feather ProGuard (4)
Soap/cream: Henri Et Victoria Nautilus
Brush: Razorock Beehive
Aftershave1: T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Henri Et Victoria Nautilus

Well today I probably used the MOST disappointing soap in my den on the scent front. HeV awhile back released some new soaps in a Tallow formula and this is one of them. The performance was GREATLY improved and HONESTLY moves it up on the scale. The scent though is SO WEAK! But so nice. Honestly on a 5 point scale it get 0.5. Then the aftershave which could try and save the day, it doesn't... it's a 1/5. This scent has so much promise and I wish they would fix it. Anyways the shave overall was VERY good. I did walk away with a nice BBS+ shave today.

Homefront:

Nothing overly crazy to report. It was crazy hot yesterday, and this morning it was 80 degrees when I left the house at 5AM, so I have a feeling it will be a scorcher. We have a camping trip coming up next weekend so going to be trying to get the trailer packed and ready in the evenings to avoid some of the heat. We are heading up into the mountains so get out of the heat and looking forward to it. In fact the weekend of the 22nd and the 29th we will be out of town camping. This weekend I am hoping to watch some of the US Open and just enjoy some time with my kids and wife.
Have a great Thursday Cadre.

Camping sounds like a great time Chad! Good shave this morning with the HeV...too bad about the scent, though.

Catching up a bit. I missed the election results till just now, and I can't really offer any other sentiments that haven't already been mention; I feel for ya, Chad. Just trust that things will work out in the long run.

BTW, you've stepped up your game with your photos - they're really looking good!

Have fun on the camping trips.

Thanks Don. I wish they weren't over a week away!

Yes Josh it is really disappointing actually. For the longest time I thought I inadvertently was sent an unscented soap. But as time has gone on I can detect the notes... though very faint!

Thank you Chris on all fronts!

What's that Chad? Speak up! I can't smell you!

I KNOW IT IS VERY DISAPPOINTING! MAYBE I'LL USE THE VEG TOMORROW TO MAKE UP FOR MY QUIETNESS TODAY.

LOL

Regarding the K of C stuff, there has been some spot on stuff already said here. I will only add that spending some time in Matthew 5:1-12 cannot hurt. Go in peace, and serve the Lord.

Regarding the shave, you and the Feather SS are firing on all cylinders. Enjoy the Open, and have fun camping next weekend and the weekend after. Oh, and don't forget, retract the stairs only when Megan is in the vehicle with her seat-belt on.

Thank you Walk. I actually have been in the bible quite a bit lately.

And don't worry Megan will be in the vehicle before I put the stairs up LOL

Straight Shave #189

Razor: Feather SS
Blade: Feather ProGuard (5)
Soap/cream: Henri Et Victoria La Poire Française
Brush: Stirling Boar
Aftershave1: T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Avon Deep Woods

Well today was another Feather SS shave clocking my straights at 189. I grabbed my other HeV soap and went to town. The French Pear as this is referred too, smells like a fresh baked cobbler to me. Nice hints of spice, but sweet at the same time. This is a fun scent, but not a daily driver soap. The Boar made great lather and I was just firing on all cylinders. What a shave. BBS+ for I think the 3rd or 4th day in a row. Can't complain there! I wrapped it all up with the Avon Deep Woods which is quickly becoming one of my favorite Avon scents.

Homefront:

Yesterday we had a run to Costco, and after all the items, and filling the gas tank, $300 later. Oh boy that store can really hurt the wallet LOL. Anyways on the way home, I called an audible and hit the drive-thru at our favorite Ice Cream place here in Utah. I had an Oreo Mint Shake, Megan an ice cream cone dipped in chocolate rolled in nuts (brown topper with nuts, not sure what others call them), Connor a strawberry sundae, and Sadie was in heaven with a baby vanilla ice cream cone. We don't stop for ice cream very often any more as it just doesn't align with our lifestyle changes that we have made, but when you leave Costco and it is 97 degrees outside still at 7PM sometimes you need to treat the family.

Today I will be heading over to the KoC Bingo night that we run every week, I plan to sit down man to man with the Grand Knight in private and basically just put everything out there, and let him know that I don't plan on working against him but instead continuing to help him. I also want him to understand just how divided our council is right now, and basically ask, "is this
what you want your legacy to be?" Regardless of how this meeting goes myself and the other elected officers have already met, and what is interesting is even though he won the GK position, none of his guys won any of the other positions. Strange to say the least.

Oh well enough boring you all, hope you all have a great Friday and weekend. And since I know my weekend is jam packed I want to wish ALL OF YOU DADS a Happy Father's Day!

Nice shave Chad! And good plan moving forward with the KoC stuff. Hopefully things turn out well for all parties concerned.

All caught up Chad nice shaves. The KoC stuff will work out but imho nothing I repeat nothing in my life has ever not worked out for the glory of God in HIS time not mine. I don't always understand it but it isn't for me to question only obey and be the best I can for God he works out the rest

You’ve had a nice string of great shave results - very nice.

I hope your one-on-one meeting is productive.

Have fun camping!

And regarding ice cream: you are definitely speaking my language now - LOL. It is my #1 dietary vice - I could indulge it daily! (and often do). Plus, it’s my daughter and mine’s “thing” - we go out for ice cream a lot. She favors chocolate. Depending on where we go, I’ll opt for either basic vanilla, or salted caramel. So many styles and flavors - yes, please! “I’m in!”

Much respect for having the man to man discussion. And yes, that is saying something when there aren't enough people to vote him out, but they are ready for some change and don't vote for his supporters.

Ice cream related, anyone else heard of or been to Salt and Straw? They started in Portland and are slowly spreading across the west coast states. They make pretty original flavors that really work and cause lines out the door every day with people waiting an hour to get a cone. Stuff like Roasted Strawberry Tres Leches, Almond Brittle with Salted Ganache, and Duck Crackling with Cherry Preserves.

So many good ice creams, so little time!

I hope you call better bingo than a certain someone!

IDK about ice creams but there are some really really awesome doughnut shops on the East Coast if you ever get out this way I will treat you to some.

Thanks Chris. I am a huge Ice Cream fan, especially anything with peanut butter.

Salt and Straw never heard of them, but it sounds right up my alley!

Oh I call a great game of bingo! Just wait until I get the reigns here.

IDK about ice creams but there are some really really awesome doughnut shops on the East Coast if you ever get out this way I will treat you to some.

oh I love donuts! chocolate on chocolate, bear claws, jelly filled, old fashioned... yes yes yes yes!!!! I will eat them all!

Man to Man with the Big guy huh? That is something.

I am totally with you on the HeV Nautilus, mine is effectively unscented. I am able to detect a fairly intoxicating sub-scent that keeps me from tossing it, if it were stronger it might be a really cool scent. I spoke with the guy at HeV about the scent, I got the first release and so I thought letting him know was important. He said they had already stepped up the scent and offered to send me a tub of the "improved" product. I declined because I had already been given free shipping and didn't want him to be out the full cost. I love the performance and like the Cuban Cigar scent so I didn't need him to prove the Nautilus was better now. I would be interested to see if anyone who got a more recent batch thinks the scent is too light or if it is just right. ...intriguing scent for sure.

Yes, when the summer is hot the family deserves ice cream from time to time.

I think you are doing the right thing with the Grand Poobah...err sorry...Grand Knight. If he is worth his salt he will accept your friendship and make the K of C a better place. If he dismisses you, then you will have more ammunition for next year.
