Chad's adventures of shaving, officiating, and life

Look at this two days in a row!

Had another good shave and since the cool autumn air seems to finally be hitting in Utah I grabbed some Pinaud Bay Rum as my aftershave. Good stuff indeed! The CBL Carnation is almost all gone maybe 4-5 more shaves is left.

Yesterday I attended the NCAA officials meeting like I do every monday and am really enjoying all the video review and talking about all the plays across the country. It's truly amazing to me all there is to learn about the game.

It's fall break this week and also the last week of the high school regular season. I am working two games this week. Tomorrow I am working the #1 team in the state vs the #5 team in the state, the winner wins region and first seed in the playoffs. Should be a fun game. Then on Thursday I have been given my first crew for a varsity game. I will wear the White Hat and looking forward to it. I have done a lot of JV games this year as white hat but this will be my first in a varsity.

Have a good day cadre.

What's this a three-peat? It sure is!

Shave was good today and went back to the Dread Pirate Roberts aftershave as it's almost gone. The donut hole in the CBL Carnation is getting bigger. I also ditched the blade in the Timeless razor this morning not sure how many shaves were on it... perhaps 10 I think. I opted to load a fresh Astra SP into the Razorock Double open comb and received a very nice shave today after 2.5 passes.

With it being fall break season at the High School across the state starting soon football games start tonight and run through Friday. As mentioned I have a game tonight and tomorrow which means I will have my first friday off this season. Which means as I call it, it's family fun day! The wife and kids are off for fall break so I am going to take the day off and we are going to enjoy the day as a family. I am beyond blessed that Megan allows me to officiate football as it's truly my passion and it takes me away from the family and puts a lot on her shoulders especially being pregnant., and since the season is almost over that also means it is time to make reservations at a restaurant and treat my wife soon.

Yesterday was my Knights of Columbus meeting where I was presented with the Star Council award from Supreme. Which is one of the most prestigious awards a Grand Knight can win. I was one of 3 awarded across the state of Utah. I was honored to win this and thankful for all the amazing men in my council that made it possible. With the holidays quickly approaching it's time to gear up for a lot of our events that w have coming up. Busy time of year, and being in my second year as Grand Knight it feels like I am on the downward slope now for my term, and have already started training my Deputy Grand Knight to hand over the reigns.

Anyways hope you all have a great day!

Well no shave today. But did shave late last night. After working my game which was a lot of fun. Went into the locker room and we started the showers and they just would not get warm. They were ICE COLD. Well it was 55 degrees on the field when we got off, there was a constant north wind, and we wore short sleeve shirts. There was no way I was getting that shower. So I drove the 40 min home and enjoyed a nice hot shower, then a quick shave and off to snoozeland!

Today I work another game this one an afternoon kickoff, and will be my first varsity game as the white hat. I have worked many JV games as a white hat but this will be the first Varsity. Looking forward to it as this will be my last game worked in the HS regular season. Playoffs start next week. Which is the worst time of the year for an official. Because you never know when your season is over. Technically tonight could be last worked HS game of the year. I hope it isn't but it's definitely possible.

Have a good day cadre.

No, no, no. They won't leave "The Giant" hangin'! Hmmm, we need a good ref nickname for you. There's one taller guy, so you can't be The Giant. Could be "Patchy" related to the facial hair. Or "Big BB" for Bourbon Boy. Gotta get this nailed down before you hit the collegiate level.

I can’t figure out a rhyme or reason - watching the Tennessee / Bama game - the receiver and defensive guys were tangled - the ref was about 10 yards away and threw his hat down in their direction.
I believe they use it as some sort of marker for a point on infraction if they have already used their flag.

A very very busy weekend. Not a lot of time around here sadly.

Shaves have been good and the CBL Carnation will not make it through the week.

We had a great weekend as a family Friday was a great time at a local farm which involved, face paint, homemade apple cider donuts, corn maze, pony rides, tractor rides, pumpkin patch, piglet races, and hill slides. Saturday I had agreed to officiate playoffs for little league which meant 4 games. Then came straight home and went with a friend to the Utah vs USC game. Which was an excellent game! Had so much fun, and finished the day with over 34,000 steps. Legs are still a little sore.

Sunday was an early day at the church to help set up for after mass donuts and coffee, and then we went to holy hour at the Carmelite monastery and then stopped for burgers after for dinner. Got home and enjoyed AFV which is a family weekly tradition.

We are cooling off in the mornings for sure but still getting to the 70s during the day. But the extended forecast has snow in it currently just roughly 10ish days away. I guess winter is going to come.

Anyways hope you all had a great weekend!

The soap is still sticking around. I think the gremlins are sneaking into my bathroom in the middle of the night and adding soap to the container. If I had to guess i'd think maybe 5 days left but who knows, probably 3 months with those darn gremlins.

As to the home life there is a definite chill in the air. And we have snow in the forecast. If it comes we will wake up sunday to snow. I'd assume it will be on the grass only and not stick to the roads. Well that means it is time to winterize the motorhome and outdoor sprinklers.

Football continues I am working a in state playoff game on Friday.

Have a good day Cadre.
