Chad's adventures of shaving, officiating, and life

So no shave Saturday but did have a shave today. The soap has really softened up so opted pull a bowl out and start using that instead. Just scoop a small bit out and transfer to bowl. Shave was good, and it should slow down the usage on the soap. Also the aftershave is great. Easy to say CBL has the best aftershave on the market.

Home front nothing crazy. Went and visited my grandma yesterday who is turning 90 in April. She is beginning to slow down and we don't know how much time she has left. So a trip was needed.

Today was full of church and then over to a friend's house that we are playing the board game Pandemic but we are doing the legacy version. This game is great! Highly recommended!

Hope your weekend has been well cadre

Well happy Monday. Another week and here we go. Started out with another great shave. By the way I have been using the Vector with a Feather blade and I think it is on shave #12 or #13 roughly, and the blade is going strong.

Onto the homefront it is birthday week in our house, my son turns 8 on 2/2. And we are having a party on the weekend at my parents house with some cousins, he is extremely excited because the stupid pandemic has stopped his celebrations in the last bit. Speaking of all that my employer has changed once again the plan to go back to the building.... I just roll my eyes at all that. I'll believe it when I see it. Not a lot of basketball this week but I do have a game tomorrow.

Anyways have a good day cadre.

Well new month here we go! After a month of change, covid, and away from home more than being at home. February has to be better! So here we go! Today I was the same shave as yesterday aside from one minor difference. I put a couple of the Stirling Menthol drops into my lather and had a nice cooling shave. I like being able to control how cold a soap is instead of freezing my skin off.

Sometime today I should have a quick meeting with my boss to find out what my annual raise is and annual bonus. I am hoping it is decent. Because the Great Resignation is heating up around here and I am seeing more doors open in the job market at the pay range I want to be at. I have a few things in the works won't go into too much detail here but needless to say I have sent out some feelers to enter a market that is WAY different than banking. It seems like a long shot but man it would be cool if something could come to fruition. We shall see.

Lots of stuff going on at the homestead. Got a game tonight, meeting with son's teacher to discuss his first communion sacrament coming up soon, and then just all the regular at home stuff. Hope you all have a great day and here's to a great February.

No shave today for reasons so you just get me blabbing today.

Yesterday's basketball game was one for the books. It was a blast! And was NOT expecting it to be. Look it is no surprise that some teams SUCK! But there is also a reason why we play the game. Yesterday I had the luxury of working a girls game. And I have said this before I am a MUCH better football official then I am basketball official. But I love basketball and I used to play so I enjoy doing it. But I am not as good. So in Football I am always getting the really good games. And in basketball while I usually average a like 10 decent games a season, and maybe 1 or 2 great games a season. I usually end up with 30+ really mediocre to bad games. So anyways this game on paper let me tell you. One team is 0-14, the other 9-8. This is the second time they have played each other this season because they are in the me region. So when I got the game assignment I already knew that the 9-8 team had previously won by 35 points. And now I have to drive an hour and 15 min to go to a game? UGH! I begrudgingly accept the game because well these kids deserve to play. Our pregame was the typical discussion around game management let's control the coaches, the players, call what we need to, and most importantly don't let anyone get hurt. Well the 0-14 team came to play! Actually went into half time up by 8 points. The other team came back, and heart break ensued. They hit a buzzer beater 3 pt shot to send the game to overtime. OT was thrilling but sadly the 0-14 team recorded their 15th loss. Wasn't expecting this type of a game. But that's why the game is played any given night a team can win or lose.

Now today... our weather pattern has sucked since January 1st. We have had a high pressure just settle over the state of Utah, and while everyone else is getting moisture we are just getting really bad inversion, and freezing temps with no snow. Now I hate snow but we need the water real bad! I knew that Colorado, Wyoming, parts of Arizona to our south, and the WHOLE midwest and eastern US it seems was expecting snow starting today and going for a few days. Well as the storm dropped in last night and rounded out past Utah it caused a low pressure to settle in over the Great Salt Lake and well I woke up to 6 inches of lake effect snow. This was not predicted to happen at all. So our road crews did not get the pre treatment down, and the roads are HORRIBLE! Thankfully I just have to walk down the stairs but Megan had to drive her 4 miles to work, and it only took 45 min.

Today is also my son's birthday he is turning 8. So proud of the man he is becoming. Keeps God and family first and is truly turning into quite the young man. Raising kids is rough but this boy sure makes being a dad rewarding.

Have a good day cadre.

Awww man! I was rooting for the underdog through your story. Hope they were proud of the way they played in the end.

I wish this game was streamed. But 0-14.... let's just say the local TV station sent the streamers to other schools. But I will say that team played their hearts out. And sadly heartbreak happens sometimes.

Well here we go back to the shaves. And I needed a shave. Nothing crazy to report the shave was nice and comfortable and plenty close.

Today is a crazy busy day between work and a basketball game later tonight I am going to the kids school to do a presentation for Catholic Schools Week. I will be talking about what the Knights of Columbus do and the importance we provide. We also plan to make some students honorary knights and going through a small knighting ceremony. I am sure the kids are going to love it.

With my son's birthday yesterday we kept it pretty low key at home since he is having a party on Saturday with family and cousins.

Tonight's basketball game should be a good one. It is a girls game as they are the ones who play on Thursday but it is considered the game of the night. No link up yet but I am sure you can find it. Tip off is 7PM MT. Jordan High School @ Lehi High School. Depending on how my day goes I will see if I can get the link before I head out.

Have a good day cadre.
