No shave today for reasons so you just get me blabbing today.
Yesterday's basketball game was one for the books. It was a blast! And was NOT expecting it to be. Look it is no surprise that some teams SUCK! But there is also a reason why we play the game. Yesterday I had the luxury of working a girls game. And I have said this before I am a MUCH better football official then I am basketball official. But I love basketball and I used to play so I enjoy doing it. But I am not as good. So in Football I am always getting the really good games. And in basketball while I usually average a like 10 decent games a season, and maybe 1 or 2 great games a season. I usually end up with 30+ really mediocre to bad games. So anyways this game on paper let me tell you. One team is 0-14, the other 9-8. This is the second time they have played each other this season because they are in the me region. So when I got the game assignment I already knew that the 9-8 team had previously won by 35 points. And now I have to drive an hour and 15 min to go to a game? UGH! I begrudgingly accept the game because well these kids deserve to play. Our pregame was the typical discussion around game management let's control the coaches, the players, call what we need to, and most importantly don't let anyone get hurt. Well the 0-14 team came to play! Actually went into half time up by 8 points. The other team came back, and heart break ensued. They hit a buzzer beater 3 pt shot to send the game to overtime. OT was thrilling but sadly the 0-14 team recorded their 15th loss. Wasn't expecting this type of a game. But that's why the game is played any given night a team can win or lose.
Now today... our weather pattern has sucked since January 1st. We have had a high pressure just settle over the state of Utah, and while everyone else is getting moisture we are just getting really bad inversion, and freezing temps with no snow. Now I hate snow but we need the water real bad! I knew that Colorado, Wyoming, parts of Arizona to our south, and the WHOLE midwest and eastern US it seems was expecting snow starting today and going for a few days. Well as the storm dropped in last night and rounded out past Utah it caused a low pressure to settle in over the Great Salt Lake and well I woke up to 6 inches of lake effect snow. This was not predicted to happen at all. So our road crews did not get the pre treatment down, and the roads are HORRIBLE! Thankfully I just have to walk down the stairs but Megan had to drive her 4 miles to work, and it only took 45 min.
Today is also my son's birthday he is turning 8. So proud of the man he is becoming. Keeps God and family first and is truly turning into quite the young man. Raising kids is rough but this boy sure makes being a dad rewarding.
Have a good day cadre.
