Chad's adventures of shaving, officiating, and life

Razor: Razorock SLOC
Blade: Wizamet (1)
Soap/cream: CBL Club CBL Shave Stick
Brush: AP Shave Gold Synthetic
Aftershave1: Lucky Tiger
Aftershave2: Pinaud Clubman
Talc: King Talc

Well I figured I would document the beginning of my next 3017 project. As I begin on the CBL shave stick. I personally really like shave stick, and really enjoy the application of building the lather 100% on the face. My shave today was real good. The Wizamet blade paired with a mild razor seems to be a great combo. I also plan to use the Pinaud aftershave through this whole 3017 as that is what the scent is modeled after. Great shave and ready to go!

Homefront

Well after Megan ended her quarantine and back to school for two days my son's teacher ended up testing positive. Thankfully no one in our household has tested positive OR shown symptoms. But I am glad the school did the right thing and shut down for awhile to deep clean and ensure that all positives had time to show themselves after those parents sent their kid school after they tested positive. It ended up infecting 8 students and 5 teachers. And roughly 60 people ended up on precautionary quarantine. We are off quarantine Thursday, but since Friday's are now always at home days to allow teachers time to get caught up. Our kids will go back to school a week from today.

Football has been going great with our 6 classifications this weekend we have some doing quarterfinals and 2 doing semifinals. So lots of good games across the state coming up. We are also discussing basketball season. Not sure what I am going to do on that front. I feel the risk is lower for football being outside and being more distanced from people. But cramming into a gym not sure how I feel on that.

Also I did my civic duty and voted a few weeks ago. If you have not voted please do. That's all I will say on the topic.

Hope you all are well. Have a good night Cadre.

Aftershave1: LNHC TSC Balm

Well one my goals was to try and keep this journal more updated. Well here we go I am trying just that. But the year doesn't start until you go back to work and that day was today. So here I am. I have fully adopted the 3017 lifestyle. I like it! With all the craziness in the world it is nice to know that every morning my shave will be consistently good, also I don't have to go through all over 400 soaps to try and find what one to use. Yes the collection has hit 400! I am really hoping to cut back purchases this year aside from you know soaps you need to have. So i'm sure that number will be near 500 end of year. Anyways the shave with LNHC is absolutely wonderful. I have it completely dialed in and to wrap up the shave with the balm honestly nothing else is required for a nice shave.

Homefront:

Covid fatigue has officially set in, and I see our family taking smaller risks. That we where a few months ago. As example all four of us after church running into the grocery store to grab something quick. We did see family around Christmas but also turned some family away because they had exposure, they are now mad at us because they said, "we aren't sick though!" But we couldn't take that risk. Also for example our home centrally located between Megan's family and mine so in a normal year honestly EVERYONE on both sides is at our house for breakfast. It is something we look forward to honestly. But It just wasn't safe this year. So if we could have a 85% odds or better that you aren't sick you where allowed to come over for a little bit. But not all at the same time. So my parents came by briefly, Megan's mom briefly, her one brother and sister in law with baby, and her dad and step mom. That was it. The others had exposure or due to their own health reasons they couldn't take that risk. As example my grandpa who is battling cancer. We have an end in sight because Utah will vaccinate teachers very soon like within the next couple of weeks soon. And there seems to be gray area that I might get it as well also! Fingers crossed! In other news I was originally NOT going to officiate basketball because it is indoors and I just didn't feel as safe as I did for football. However they have No fans, every player, coach, and bench personnel all must have a negative rapid test within 4 hours of game time to play and one positive will sideline the team. So because of those measures I have opted to officiate. So far I have had one game cancelled and that was the visiting team tested positive before coming to the school. The rest so far have been played so not bad honestly. Hoping it continues. Aside from that work is good and the new year is kicking off just trying to manage time a little better and open up some Cadre time because I miss reading the journals. So I hope this lasts.

Have a good day Cadre!

We did the same thing for Christmas this year. A lot of the usual faces weren’t in attendance due to exposure or their own health issues that would put them at high risk if they did get COVID. We even moved it from our house to my in-law’s as they have more room and we were able to spread everyone out.

I’m kind of with you on the 3017 lifestyle. It is nice to not have to make the decision of what soap to use every morning (I don’t have near the selection that you do though!), but I also still like the option to switch up. So we’ll see how this first 3017 goes with LNHC. I’m trying to keep the asterisk off this time haha!

Welcome to the forums!
Blessed to be here!
Ya, gotta love the "but I'm not sick" people when if you have a heartbeat and a TV you've heard about all the asymptomatics.
Exactly! But I can't blame them for trying. The Christmas rolls that Megan makes every year are AWESOME for breakfast. Plus I make my breakfast burritos!

Who is that talking? Steve, Chuck, or Frank?

I'm not sure if you mean you are now starting to take small risks or if you are reducing your risk-taking. 🤔
When it comes to shopping, either my wife or I go in the store. It would have been back in February the last time both of us shopped together.

I guess I wasn't real clear was I? I mean we have taken on slightly more risk. For example after mass on Sunday we all stopped at the grocery store and all went in. We let the kids pick a donut and a drink. Just really small things. And opening up our home more, but that comes with a lot of questions from us about where and who you have been around, and we don't feel bad for saying no

Those are always tough decisions, especially with family, but good for you for doing the right thing for your family. I have been fortunate that both my family as well as my wifes family are all on the same page (or pretty close to it anyway) for the most part and there have been no hard feeling that I know of. My dad (82 years old) has really surprised me at how serious he has taken it. Unfortunately part of that is due to him losing a life long friend to Covid last year. His friend was in his 90's and had other health isssues that contributed, but it really hit my dad hard and opened his eyes. I upside is my dad has been really careful.

Gotta do what you feel like you gotta do! Just like everyone else. Good on you Chad, for not caving.
