Chad's adventures of shaving, officiating, and life

Razor: King Gillette from Amazon
Blade: Wizamet (31)
Soap/cream: Victory Soap Champagne Lady
Brush: SV TSC Brush
Aftershave1: Lucky Tiger
Aftershave2: AV Balm
Talc: King Talc

Well I have been taking some time off from all of the journals. Reading a few entries here and there but staying away from mine. I have fully embraced the 3017 model of shaving and what you see above has been the same setup for the last month. The soap is on it's last leg, a weeks worth of shaves left. I have gotten exceptional shaves throughout and am very happy that Victory is a vendor here at TSC. The SV TSC brush has just been exceptional out the gate for me. very little time to get broken in, and I have used it non-stop. The Wizamet blades I know get a lot of love around here and they are very good blades and worth buying for sure. They last a long time and do me well, but I think I still prefer the Gillette 7 O'Clock Permasharp more.

Homefront:
This has been the main reason I took time off from the journals. The journal was starting to depress me because I realized just sitting at home was driving me crazy. But I have been doing more since the kids went back to school, and Megan back to work. I am walking every morning, or going for a bike ride, been officiating 4 days a week, and just distracting myself with other things. The virus is still controlling a lot of our lives, I was just informed that I will be work at home thru end of June 2021. So been working on myself, cleaning up some negativity, and making adjustments to who is in my life. The virus, election, and negativity has torn me down, and it is time to build me up. Anyways I hope you all are doing well. I will do my best to get caught up around here.

Glad you are doing better Chad. There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking time for yourself. Although I am concerned that you have adopted the 3017 lifestyle...

Hang in there, Chad. Taking the time to figuring out what (and who!) is important in our lives will produce positive results; there might be some initial regrets after culling things and/or people, but in the long run, you'll be better off for it. Especially if there are folks that are "energy vampires" 🧛‍♂️ who suck the enjoyment and drive out of you.

The good news is that my diagnosis 👨‍⚕️ is that, even though unable to grown a mustache, you are not a lost cause as you see the wisdom of 3017ing. Welcome to one of the easiest way to simplify your life and still get loads of enjoyment from shaving. 🕺

The 3017 lifestyle works. Especially since I don't sell stuff LOL

Lots of clean up on social media and even social circles. Some people are just leaches. Well it is OCT so we can go with vampires

Pfft who needs a mustache?

I think a lot of people are in the same boat with you Chad. The two weeks I was back at work full time had my anxiety higher than I ever realized it ever could go. It wasn't just work...it was all the things you mentioned too. I also noticed that my physical activity was taking a down turn as well. I am back at home doing a bit of social distancing before the wife and I head into the hospital. So I plan on doing a little more me evaluation. Get back on track with the exercise. Get outside a bit. Turn down all the background noise. Spending time with my wife at this crucial juncture is really what is important for me right now.

I honestly think that the more one person can do outside (exercise, gardening, house maintenance, a leisure walk), the better our mental health. Something about the fresh air, sunshine, and physical activity does the soul some good.

Hang in there buddy...you will get through this!

Don I agree. I am doing a LOT BETTER now! Never really experienced depression before and not afraid to admit it. But I have been focused and doing a lot more! Lots of family walks etc in the evening too! Which is really good.

Glad you’re doing well Chad! Hope this new turn toward positivity continues for you!

I agree, I have seen this in myself and numerous others at times during recent months and it certainly can take a toll. This site has really helped me. TSC has been a small sanctuary and a much needed distraction in a world of crazy. Glad I found it, thanks TSC!

Yup the shave is the exact same set up as yesterday. This blade will probably get binned soon, but it's going well so we shall see. The soap is at that stage where it clumps and falls apart easily. I really don't think it will make it to next week.

Homefront:

All is well here. Winter is quickly approaching and Fall is full swing. This weekend I plan to get the snow blower out change the oil and replace the spark plug. We are talking about possibly one fall camping trip soon before snow fall, and then it will be time to winterize the motorhome. We are in the works of planning a trip down to the grand canyon in April, and plan to hit some other spots along the way. Also hoping to meet up with some Arizona friends as well. Football has two regular season games left, and then it's playoffs. Honestly I am shocked we made it this far. Yes some games have been cancelled due to the virus but overall it has gone surprisingly well.

I'll leave you with this:
Something bothering you? Reach out.
Have a friend you haven't talked to in awhile? Reach out.

Have a good day Cadre!

This is good advice for a lot of things!

A fall camping trip sounds like a lot of fun. And a spring trip to the Grand Canyon...I would love it!
