CBLindsay's brain droppings

No worries Chris. Good check in! I hope you find a happy bit of R&R time soon.

Would that Vorpal be from Seraphim? I hear great reverence when his GD customs are mentioned; the few I’ve seen certainly look beautiful.

Sitting at straight shave #960

Lots and lots going on in the world of CBL but things are about to become much more manageable....maybe.

I skipped today’s shave because I had been up all night working on the Site upgrade so we could finish it before my plate got even more full.

...good news is the site upgrade has been completed (or will have been completed by the time y’all see this) and it looks FANTASTIC. The features and functionality are flat out superior to ALL other forums out there. I can say this with near 💯% certainty because we began our conversion under one version and finished with an even more current version (one part of our forum is a full 3 versions newer than what was available only a week ago. )

Anyway, welcome to the new and improved TSC, I hope you LOVE it!

You guys did great. Definitely worth the wait...worth missing a shave though? I dunno...;)

Straight Shave# 964

Today's gear
SV Artisan 2.0 26mm badger
Oz Shaving Soap "Yellow Brick"
Schick Injector (Schick blade)
CBL Witch Hazel blend
Penhaligons "Sartorial"

Today's shave was one for the record books..."fastest shave" category. I had someone coming to the house at 7am so I wanted to give myself plenty of time. The OZ lather formed quickly and the injector was SMOOTH. I should have spent more time to get the lather better but it wasn't "bad" as it was just rapidly made. All in all the shave was fantastic.

Side note: My wife needed more shaving soap for the shower so I whipped up a batch with extra shea butter and a bunch of brewed green tea to thin it so it can be pumped from a bottle. I scented it with Gardenia so it smells a bit girly. I tested it yesterday and blown away by the way it felt on the face. Lesson learned? shea butter is good.

On the home front:
Things are starting to get a little more controlled. The forum upgrade has been done and the residual time requirement is diminishing allowing me more time to deal with family and work issues.

Good stuff Chris. I’m a big fan of the Oz soaps myself.

You guys really did a great job with the forum, it’s amazing! It’s been taking a little getting used to which is to be expected, but it was well worth the wait!

Nice entry Chris

Straight shave #976

Tallow & Steel “classic” in old formula
SV Artisan 2.0 26mm badger
Weck Med-prep personna bladeX3
Tallow & steel classic aftershave

Getting closer to the 1000 straight shave benchmark, no reason to believe I won’t cross that threshold soon.

I have said it before but it's worth saying again. The Weck with the guard in place is the smoothest feeling razor I have every used. I have had a rough few days and last night I had a surprise 3 hour road trip to retrieve my son from School because his car broke down. I was groggy enough this morning I decided the Weck was the safest bet. The Tallow & Steel made a very nice lather which made the whole adventure even better. I am not entirely sure I like the "classic" scent, it's enjoyable enough but as I sit here several hours later I am tired of smelling it. That explains why it ends up being pushed to the back of the cabinet.
