Brew's Foul Concoction

I get what you are saying about the unnatural feeling. Almost like it’s ... wait for it ... synthetic. I jest 🤪

But I do get that same kinda feeling. It is different, but I don’t hate it. It’s soft, has good backbone with minimal splay. It also lathers and paints well. But it does feel kinda ... off. I’ll use it a bit and see if/how my perception changes.
I hope it works out for you. This is just one of those things where it doesn't seem "worth" the change/effort to me. Boars are great, once in a while the right badger is nice. I'm fine with that.

Thank you. They are my travel razors. I have a Dovo travel case that they fit perfectly in.

I really like the Red Imps, and can't count how many I've bid on over the years. To no avail, as they continue to be popular and usually end up higher than I'm willing to pay. The heavier grinds are my personal favorites.

I could do without the third pin on such little scales, but given their propensity to warp, I understand why it's there.

Yesterday I discovered another aftershave that works with Shalimar. One of the Stirling samples that came a couple of days ago was Haverford. It has a warm pipe tobacco smell that seems to "man-up" Shalimar's too beautiful early top notes. The website indicates this one is modeled from Tobacco Vanille, by Tom Ford. I think that makes sense.

Normally, I would stay away from a fragrance that I think I need to somehow "fix" or am otherwise uncomfortable wearing. I wouldn't say I'm uncomfortable wearing Shalimar, especially once it settles down and warms up on me. But, it is awfully pretty at first. I am not.

Today is Dior Leather Oud. Not a beautiful fragrance, in my book. But a real T shirt stretcher. I paired it with Tabac, which makes for one of my favorite AS/cologne duos. But that's the cart. The horse was the Day 2 shave with the #132 Imp. What a shave! At certain points that soft German steel felt like a sink sponge squeegeeing lather and whiskers. I am nearly BBS in two passes, using super slick TOBS lavender cream. The little wedge is surely one of my most comfortable shavers. On two his hollow ground stablemate tomorrow. I hope there's some sort of sibling rivalry going on . . . .

Great stuff, Larry. I've got a little Jernbolaget wedge that always delivers an excellent shave as well. The heavier grinds have always appealed to me more. Maybe because the more subtle feedback makes it feel like the razor doesn't need to work as hard.

Leather Oud is a great frag! I love it! Mainly a cold weather scent for me. Living in the deep south you have to be careful when the heat and humidity kicks in!

It is one of my favorites. I enjoy oud during the summer. The stuff is from jungles, so Leather Oud is a year-round staple here! lol.

I probably smell at the polar extreme from Shalimar today: Brut A/S followed by Soliani's Bel'Antonio, which is my favorite cigarette frag. The hollow, #133 Imp turned in an excellent shave, using the TOBS lavender again. I probably have a week or two of shaves left in the TOBS tub. Excellent cream with a very good lavender fragrance, but it won't be replaced. I like AoS and CF better. I did feel a spot or two of irritation when I rinsed with alum, but nothing to write home about. All in all, another really good shave.

Very nice. I like TOBS scents, but have always thought that their cream's performance could be a bit better.
