Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

I only face lather when im travelling or using a stick soap. It is much easier for me to control the water in my bowl.

Thanks Eric. I'm really liking it and afraid of the rabbit hole...

Be very afraid lol.

Airing out to dry my Ghost Banana to firm it up for tomorrows shave. What do you guys that have it and/or used it recommend for a matching aftershave (save the comments peanut gallery :ROFLMAO:)
I haven’t tried Ghost Banana yet, but I think anything with fruity top notes would work just fine. An Aventus knock off, perhaps.

If you are banana for banana scent you might want to check out Chiseled Face, he announced early this week that he has brought his banana scent back...and he has a matching aftershave.

Thanks Chris @CBLindsay I'll check out the aftershave maybe as a possibility and I like their mixture but their soap base doesn't interest me. (y)

I agree, the soap base is not top quality but his aftershave is pretty nice. Ron makes “stubble buster” using a different, MUCH better base, I would kill to get ghost town barber in the stubble buster base.

I love their AS but not sure straight banana is what I want. Pitralon may me the route for now

Wow Dave, I didn’t realize how far I was behind on your journal! Some really good stuff! I’m also strictly a face latherer unless using samples. Question for you though, how long do you let your CBL soaps sit to harden them up?

Depends, overnight and still feels a little soft so this one will take a little more time and I'm still deciding if I'll shave today or tomorrow with it. 1 day or 2 usually does it. I spread it out while soft to fill edges around the tub and then let sit until tapping it on top with my index finger doesn't feel like it's easily depressed. When it's soft I tend to get the brush all gunked up with too heavy a load of soap. I should have done these when I got them but they were put on the shelf and I forgot too till I was ready to use them.

2019 Shave # 96 ( 149 Consecutive Shaves )
Razor: Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
Brush: Cadre Member w/Cashmere
Soap: WSP Formula T - Ol' Kentucky
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Pinaud Whiskey Woods

Called an audible and decided to wait until tomorrow to use the CBL Ghost Banana. This WSP Ol' Kentucky sample from the 3 named Steve @SteveChuckFrank sent me was calling me (He actually sent 3 WSP samples, Thanks Steve) Smeared a snurdle in the Turkish bowl and loaded it onto the Cadre member brush to work up the lather on my face. Got a nice lather. This is a good soap but not anywhere near my favorites now. Good protection and decent slickness. For residual it needs water to bring it back. Was a little drying on the skin to me. Where this one really shines is the scent to me and if anything the Aftershave is what I would purchase in this scent. Don't get me wrong, this is a very good soap I know many enjoy WSP products. I was glad to get a chance to try this scent and their soap. Looking forward to he other 2 scents (Mahogany and Black Beard) Topped off with Whiskey Woods which was a no brainer. Hey I'm a laborer worker, I don't care if I smell like Whiskey all day :p Just got a notice that a package from Joisey is arriving today instead of tomorrow. Whoop whoop, it's Vector time tomorrow boys and girls. Have a Splendid day Cadre !!!!

Glad you enjoyed the Ol' Kentucky Dave. WSP is top notch for me, but I haven't tried a lot of the soaps that you would put above it. I really like their scent profiles too. I do agree that the CBL is a step above though.

Dave getting all boozy...next he’ll be making an appearance with some rum cake. :p

Looking forward to seeing another person hooked by the Vector!

Smart. Set the stage with a whiskey aftershave so when you show up after having a couple at lunch, they won’t expect a thing.
