2019 Shave # 95 ( 148 Consecutive Shaves )
Razor: Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
Brush: Rubberset 400 W/Maggards Tuxedo
Soap: Phoenix and Beau Spitfire
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Penhaligon's Sartorial
Fragrance: Penhaligon's Sartorial

So samples are piling up again and time to use some. Today was P&B Spitfire which is a Leather, Tobacco scent with a slight freshness coming thru from the Juniper added. Very nice scent. Got a great lather although got a little dry near the end of the shave. This may have been user error as I have trouble bowl lathering since I ONLY do it with samples and infrequently at that. That said I had awesome protection for the shave. While i enjoyed the shave and perhaps before I would be saying I need to buy a tub because it is a great scent to me, using @CBLSoap.com and @LNHC soaps has me more picky on what soaps I will add to the den. Too many options for scent in these elite soapmakers offerings that leave my skin feeling great so why add others. All things equal in razor, blade and technique I feel some soaps just make a difference in post shave feel. Can't convince me otherwise. I'm becoming a soap snub lately. I do appreciate others but don't feel the need to add them to the stash. I pulled out my recent acquisition from @cmh737 to use and I did enjoy this scent. Glad I was able to get this awesome deal Chris offered up. I'm not big on AS Balms but really did enjoy how this went on and absorbed into the skin so it will be used with pleasure. Topped with the matching Frag and I'm all set for the day. Have a Splendid day Cadre !!

Nice write up Dave. I too only bowl lather with samples and frequently have difficulty with it, and I prefer AS splashes to balms. I do, however, enjoy the Henri & Victoria balm in Fougere that I picked up last summer at the Maggard’s meet up. Smells great, moistures, and has menthol. A little goes a long way though.

Nice, very nice! I have the same issue with bowl lathering and for the same reason.
Thanks guys, let's start a club 😋

Nice review, and sentiment. I totally agree. I'm hoping that one of the new soaps I try soon will be aiming it into my preferred soap list this year. I'm pretty sure CBL is going to be a smash based on the ingredients.

Glad you’re enjoying my Sartorial! :p

You’ve had a streak of good soaps and shaves lately! That’s awesome!

The only reason I hang onto my Spitfire is scent alone. It is mid tier 2 performance for me.

Great stuff, Dave. I love Sartorial. I don't have the balm, but blind bought the EDT on clearance and am glad I did.

That's hilarious, it was the exact opposite for me. I only knew how to bowl lather, thanks to my horribly prickly first brush, a 21mm Muhle STF.
It's not that hard, you just have to be careful adding water, or get a spray bottle like The Cadre's lathering rock star.

I keep meaning to get a 6 oz spray bottle, especially since @CBLindsay sent me some magic lathering potion concentrate to mix 10 - 12 oz of lathering goodness. I just keep forgetting to buy one while I'm out and the one in the shop for checking air leaks on motorcycle tires when I changed them myself is all greasy...........................but I'll always be a face lather person when I have the option. (y) @Dagwoodz is such a trend setter.....

Airing out to dry my Ghost Banana to firm it up for tomorrows shave. What do you guys that have it and/or used it recommend for a matching aftershave (save the comments peanut gallery :ROFLMAO:)
