Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Sherlock to me smells like sweat from a certain bodily crevice of mine that I won't mention here...but think of plumbers...

I totally get dirt from Summer Storm...but I like it just fine. It's kind of like moss wood and wet soggy fallen tree that is rotted out...but you know...in a good way...

.

But as a crusty old Gunnery Sergeant told me once..."God made dirt...so dirt don't hurt!"

Putting the Sputnik through the paces, huh Dave?

What type of results are you getting? Is it an assured blade feeling yet or still better?

\nNothing like the assured. Feels fine during shave. Just not getting as close a shave as I would expect from a sharper blade. I\'m going to try and take it the distance if at all possible regardless of shave quality unless it just fails terribly all of a sudden. Started 5 days early so that would be about 33 shaves...................almost halfway there.

2019 Shave # 42

Razor: Rockwell 6s Plate 5
Blade: Sputnik (15)

Brush: Rudy Vey Beehive 26 mm Badger

Soap: Chiseled Face Summer Storm
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla

Aftershave 2: Chiseled Face Summer Storm

Shave # 15 with the Sputnik is in the books and again a smooth comfortable shave although needing more strokes due to not being as keen as when new, but still performing well. Went with the wet concrete after a storm today. While rinsing my face in prep for the shave I could still detect whiffs from yesterdays Sherlock and I dig the scent. I like how strong CFG scents are. Today's Summer Storm is nice too but Sherlock and GTB seem to be my favorite 2 of what I have tried and own. I actually think a 3017 of GTB would be a good thing......................for others. Tim, are you hearing me ? Have a great day Cadre !!

To be honest Dave...if you are not getting a close shave from the blade...I would pitch it and start anew. It's weird that you are getting smooth comfortable shaves but not close or close enough shaves. But I get at what you are doing!

I should have been more specific. I'm getting close shaves that feel great but lack maybe longevity I guess. Just feels lacking but I'm determined to try and see it thru 1 time for science

Ahhhh steamy concrete....???

I agree with the longevity of the CFG products. You definitely get your money’s worth and then some in that department.

Summer storm huh? The wife is okay with yo smelling like dirt?

whatever dirt you are smelling from the soap there is no way she could smell that over the extreme Resin smell of the AS!

Honestly while i like them each for their own merits, and they go well together, i would never guess they were supposed to be the same scent.

I think I'd rather use the same soap for a month than commit to roughing up my beautiful mug by using the same blade all month.
