Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Even just using her soap was great when I was on that roof getting sun and wind burnt. It helped a lot.
 
Thanks for the comments and suggestions everyone. I may check on something later. For now the GB will work. Didn't even use today and feel better after the shave today. Soap post shave feel may be a contributer too. Getting a better quality soap than the 3017 I was using although I like CFG, post shave isn't a strong suit of theirs.

Brush: Cadre Member 24 mm Cashmere

Soap: The Club Hedonisme

Aftershave 1: Nivea 2 in 1 AS
Aftershave 2: Pinaud Clubman Citrus Musk

Decided to try and do samples for awhile and whittle down the stack. Hate using samples but have way too many sitting there staring at me and VERY good soaps samples at that. Today I went with The Club Hedonisme and was not disappointed. When done the "S" thing I am getting some more of Peter's soaps as I love the feel from them and the scents as well have yet to disappoint. Couldn't find any info on this one but I get a nice pleasant citrus scent with other things grounding it that I don't know. Orange is there but very subtle as it is balance by other unknown citrus. This is at least what I am getting. Will try to research more and see what it lists and how close my nose is to what they say. The remainder of the sample was scooped into the Clown Puke tub and this will be my way to use the samples. 1 shave and the rest into the Clown Puke tub. Have about 20 or so samples so we'll see how many in a row I can do before I stray back to full tubs. Any progress will make room on the shelf. After the shave my face felt soft and not dry. BIG difference to what I have had for a week or more and a welcome relief. Topped things off with the Nivea 2 in 1 aftershave and Clubman Citrus Musk which is more Lime forward but a nice pairing with the soap from my selection anyway. Nice shave Dave. I’ve been doing the same with my samples, only I’ve been getting about 3-5 shaves and then putting the rest in the clown puke tub.
 
Gee Wiz! I miss a couple of days on the Cadre and Dave's journal blows up! I will have to catch up in the next day or so...but it looks like a nice couple of shaves. That Ballenclaugh Honey and Tobacco is one of my favorite scents! It just smells so good!
 
Great shave and read, Dave. I really need to start going through all my samples as well. There are several that I haven’t used at all in the mix.

Thought I would drop by and say hello.

Speaking of samples, have you had a go at the Dirtyver sample I sent you? I really like the tub that I ended up getting after taking a whiff of the sample that you have in your possession. DG makes some nice products but I took a look at the Declaration Grooming website last night and was appalled at a custom brush for $1,000. Who does that? Apparently DG will scratch that itch if you have enough scratch.

And what is this about a S....? Frankly, I probably should consider one for myself.

Not gotten to it yet but in my sights. Working thru several Club and A&E from Josh at the moment. $1000 is way beyond my wallet or desire for ANY brush. Good to see you Glenn

Razor: Rockwell 6s Plate 5
Blade: Pol Silver SI (3)

Brush: Rubberset 400 w/ Tuxedo

Soap: A&E Which One's Pink

Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Bootleggers Green Freeze
Another A&E soap and just as luxurious a feeling. I got a little burning feel just into the 3rd pass which I actually expected. I get that from some rose scented soaps, but was hoping to find out this one would be okay as I grew up with Pink Floyd and obviously this packaging caught my eye. Anyway, it will go in the pile for a pif or an extra to throw in a package I mail at some point. Still a nice shave that left me smooth faced and a soft moisturized feeling. I love this Rubberset but not the knot in it. I may change it out at some point. I set it with silicone and keep waiting for it to fall out to no avail. Services today and just stuff around the house this afternoon (translation = forum perusing) Wife is heading to my parents near where I work and spending the night so I'm a bachelor for a short time. Probably try and watch the Eagles/Saints game since I originate from the Philly area even though I was more a Raiders fan back in the 80's including rooting for them when they beat the Eagles in the Super Bowl back then. Sure quiet around the pages lately....................growing pains ? Have a great day Cadre !!
 
Nice shave and enjoy the bachelor time. I have always liked the look of that style brush handle. I will have to work on finding one eventually.

Which one is Pink is a scent I just couldn't get into. The wife didn't like it either. But that soap base is one I really like! You are literally the only person that I have read or heard that does not like the Tuxedo knot. Very interesting. But you like what you like...right? I am sure you will find another suitable knot for that handle though!
 
I like the tuxedo just not this one in the rubberset at this size. I think it's a Maggards. Can't find the game on any of my stations. Just the Pats game. Will check after lunch again. Thanks Don

Can't find the game? Dang...that kind of sucks. Oh well...just one of those things about living in the country I guess. To be honest...i would love to live in a more rural location than I do now myself!

I thought we were friends Dave....I don't remember the Steelers and Eagles playing in the Super Bowl though.

The game is on Fox at 4:30 btw.

Hey Josh can't talk and I can"t think, I meant the Raiders used to be my team back in the day. Direct TV seems to have dropped my fox channel.
