Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Sounds like you’re well into the realm of fun shaves trying out these SEs. Good stuff Dave!

I do have 1 of my Paladins sold to go towards the Beehive when available. I love it but less then the others and Bill in Oneida wanted the Ebony PK-47 so yeah, there's a chance

Razor: Asylum Rx

Blade: Feather Pro Guard (3)

Brush: Paladin 26 mm Harlequin Chief

Soap: Oz Yellow Brick

Aftershave 1: Thayers Cucumber

Aftershave 2: Florida Water

So a 3 am shave before another early Tuesday work day.

1st the soap. This was a nice sample sent by KJ of Oz Brick Road and it's a nice fresh clean scent with good strength. Maybe a 2.5 off the tub and pretty much there during the shave at 2.5/3 when I was paying attention to it. Not distracting which was good given the razor I was using. Nice lather was obtained easily. Residual slickness was there for a short time and revived with some water. Post shave okay but a little drying to the skin to me. All in all a good solid soap to look at. In the massive array of artisans we can choose from I think we are getting pickier and pickier with things that are minor at best differences.

Now the Rx razor dance continues. Yep even half awake at 3 am I enjoyed the razor. You do have to be attentive but as I was shaving I was thinking that it has a place in the den. Just a razor that you can't be on auto pilot at least until you have had a good bit more of a relationship where you get to know more of what you can do and what you can't do without it giving you an eye roll or worse. Being my 1st use of an AC style razor, getting used to the width of the blade is the main thing. Not a big issue but is less maneuverable from that aspect then a DE. I'm getting to that stage where I wonder do I pop the question or look around some more to play the field and see what else is out there. We could have a happy life together and I'd be non the wiser.............. if it wasn't for Josh's video looking like he had so much fun dancing with that Vector and Gus doing a thread elsewhere again with the Vector it a fight with a Cobra. The Vector just appears to be more agile and sleek and I wonder if the Rx would be me settling. I can see it will be between these 2 and fortunately they are both still purchasable new or secondary market. Who am I kidding, it may be both before it's all over but that would be over time for sure.........................just don't tell them!!

Awesome shave with no blood letting topped off with Thayers and Florida Water which was the real tell. No more sting then would normally be there with the high alcohol punch it throws. Have a stupendous day Cadre !!

Look at this guy--another successful dance with the Rx

Having used both the Rx and the Vector, they shave different enough to both have a place in the den (just want you wanted to hear, right?). The Rx requires much more attention. The Vector is sleek and nimble, making if fun to use, but it can tolerate a more mindless shave as compared to the Rx.
