Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Nice shave Dave! That sounds like a pretty interesting scent.

I’m also waiting for March to get here, but mainly so I can start using different razors. I’ve stuck with the Rockwell all month to push the blade I’ve been using.

Dave that last scent from Lakewood sounds very nice! I might have to look at that one too!

We should have some great reviews coming up from you and KJ this coming month! Looking forward to it.

Agreed about the new folk. Nice to have some fresh faces pop in!

Pretty intriguing scents coming on! But mama has noticed some of my recent acquisitions..Brer Rabbit , he’s layn’ low.

Those ladies have noses better than a bloodhound when it comes to sniffing out general shadiness of their menfolk.

Lol! You better stick to the same scents and just buy new soaps. Or learn the “oh, I just haven’t used this one for a while”.

2019 Shave # 58 ( 113 Consecutive Shaves )

Razor: Rockwell 6s Plate #5
Blade: Sputnik blade #3 (7) Blade #2 (5) Blade #1 (18)

Brush: Cadre Member Brush

Soap: Storybook Soapworks Elysium
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70

Aftershave 2: Storybook Soapworks Elysium

So here is the scent description from the site:
Elysium is the first scent to be offered by Storybook Soapworks. With an accord of lavender, vanilla, and peppermint that is rounded out by sandalwood, cedarwood, and amyris, this scent evokes the peace and refreshment of paradise, but without all of the dead people.

It's an enjoyable fresh scent to me that is well blended and yielded a protective and slick lather. Added a little more water on 3rd pass to keep it hydrated and the sheen was awesome. The Sputnik is doing the job smoothly and all I can say is just 3 more days before I can play with my new to me SE's and the Game Changers on the way. Woot woot. Apparently tracking down a Charcoal Goods head "SET" is going to prove a challenge. The wait list is closed and he will have a new order system when those orders in are completed. Meanwhile you can find base plates on the secondary market but the top caps are proving elusive. I have the patience to..............who am I kidding, I have zero patience. I will prevail eventually though. Going to head to work today to just make tomorrow a lighter day. Then half a day Wednesday as I'm at the end of the months scheduled route. Have a great day Cadre !!!

Great shave today Dave...and Elysium sounds wonderful! Here's to you finding the razors you need...err...um...want!

Always good to see the Storybook in use. Luckily I don’t think I get lavender from that one because I like it.

I’m glad you were able to lay hands on a Game Changer. The guy there was telling me they are a white hot item!

2019 Shave # 59 ( 114 Consecutive Shaves )

Razor: Rockwell 6s Plate #5
Blade: Sputnik blade #3 (8) Blade #2 (5) Blade #1 (18)

Brush: Sorrentino Custom

Soap: Storybook Soapworks Visions and Revisions
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70

Aftershave 2: Storybook Soapworks Visions and Revisions

3rd of my Storybook scents and I get a subtle Citrus mix which is pretty much what they describe on the sight:

Visions and Revisions is our take on a classic tea scent. We blended bergamot, orange, and lemon on top of a dark black tea and earthy lavender base to build a citrusy Early Grey scent. This soap is like a relaxing cup of tea at the end of a long day!

This Sputnik is definitely going to finish the month and actually other then being locked into the 1 blade for February and not able to use something different like a SE, I have nothing against this blade. So.........yesterday I ordered a 100 pack from Bulgaria for about $14 shipped. I have so many soaps it has been awhile since using the Storybooks soaps and now I am reminded how nice the soap is as well as the scents. Also I would put the Splashes up there with my favorites like CFG and A&E. I look for something that is more than a scent with alcohol etc. I want something that feeds my skin. Here's what they say about their mix:

When creating this aftershave base, we set out to make an alcohol-free splash that provides a toning and moisturizing post-shave experience. This formula was specifically designed to be gentle on those with dry skin, but wet shavers of all skin types will appreciate this soothing blend.

Please shake well before each use. Apply a very small amount to your damp face for best results.

Ingredients: Witch Hazel Distillate, Aloe, Water, Fragrance, Polysorbate 20 (emulsifier), Vegetable Glycerin, Propylene Glycol (and) Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate (preservative), Allantoin

Needless to say, I've been enjoying working thru these again and look forward to tomorrow;s shave with the last of my 4 from them. Early 3 am shave and out the door at 4. Have a great day Cadre !!!

Dave and I are shave Twinsies! I shaved with Visions and Revisions also! Good stuff today Dave!
