Bonus Day - Barbershop Shootout

Got behind on both reading journals and posting, With the SV deal and the Fires I have fallen behind the Radio Show, on Mailing Contest items, PIFS, and other assorted item. My apologies to all. OH, and I forgot sleep. Trying to work, clear the Ranch line on the property close to the Fire, Working on transportation logistics for my MIL, in the event of a Evac, as well as working at the shop, and getting ready to take over the new shop, has me stretched in 18 directions. No excuses, but again I apologize ahdn hope to get caught up and rectify all shipping items within the next two weeks.

Anyway.... today's shave amidst the "pre-evac" was a good one, although not part of the Shootout, it is always a favorite. This soap/aftershave/edp combo has attained almost cult level status so it had to be included as it had barber in the name, LOL. An All "Tombstone/Desert Southwest shave today.

3-passes with the Elliot and have to call BBS, as I decided to carve out a small divot on my cheek. Laziness, inattention, and sleepiness probably had something to do with it. As mentioned in the attached video, Sharon and I want to thank you for your prayers and concerns. She was on fire watch last night, since I had to work today, sl she is slumbering now, as I pull the Fire Watch for tonight.

As most of you have seen We have Great Support from our new Artisan/Retailer Saponificio Varesino. We also have the Group Brush Buy and as of this writing we have almost hit 20 reservations in less than 24 hours. Thank you. We hope you will be able to get involved and the sign ups will go through the 26th of June.

Day -1: Tour of Saponificio Varesiono

Very Excited about today's next Shave Series start. with SV now being on board and the wonderful brush they are constructing for us. SOOOOO, We begin. Tundra Artica is not talked about much, and is a scent that is Oud.... Oud like. I personally would reserve it for a fall or winter scent, however wearing it today has not been bad. Ouds can be very cloying in hot weather but this has enough going on with the Tangerine and other notes in the symphony that you can get away with it. A complete run down is in the video, however during this series we will go over How to LAther, Notes, Scent, and etc, so the Videos may be a bit longer than normal.

Today's Shave was fantastic as expected, Veered off course a bit and used the Vector and it was very nice DSBBS all the way. As Promised Fragrance notes below:

Day -2: Tour of Saponificio Varesino
COSMO

Created in 2016 for the International Beauty Show CosmoProf, it is a very unique Italian Colonia with Notes that you would not expect to see. This formula is Beta 4.2 and has the addition of Larch Extract and a new Vegetal base of Castor Oil, leaves the face nourished, soft and hydrated. Especially good for dryer skin types. Today the Occam and Sorrentino BrushWorks Corleone made an appearance as well, and of Course a Talc finish with Borotalco.

A nice 3-pass w/cleanup shave for DSBBS a few drops of the AS and A few more to use as edT and all was well with the world

Day -3: Tour of Saponificio Varesino
FELCE AROMATICA

Day-3 Arguably one of the most popular fragrance types in all of Shaving.... The Fern Fougere. This is SV's take on it and it is out of the park. An Italian Colonia base with all the goodness of a green, spicy, ferny fougere. This is one of the few SV soaps that has been re-formulated into Beta 4.3. The SOS has also been increased as well. The Beta 4.1 was good, this takes it to a level on par performance wise with the other 4.3 offerings. As expected All natural and Palm Oil free this is truly a wonderful experience and will play well with Royal Fougere, English Fern, and or any of your other Favorite Fern, or grassy green scents.

The LdV SR brought it's "A" game today and raced around the "mug" with ease. One small hiccup on a follicle that has been giving me issues with either a DE, SE, or straight continues to be a rebel. Other than that a very nice DSBBS shave. Set-up, Notes, and Video below. Thanks for stopping by, reading, and watching.

Have a Great Day Folks

Thanks for providing such a thorough and thoughtful tour of the SV lineup. I'm really enjoying the videos. I have a puck of their Cosmo Beta 4.2 that I haven't tried yet, but it's on deck as soon as I finish my tour of my lavenders. It'll be the soap for my Sunday Special shave. You've got me very excited to try it out!

Glad you are enjoying it. You will enjoy the Cosmo

I’ve seen a couple times now of folks asking/wondering when the SV SR line will be put back into production or at least when the next might arrive. Has it kinda been put in the back burner for now you think? The Da Vinci is gorgeous, I assume the first batch got snapped up very quickly.

Well they, both the Original 8/8 and the Leonardo's were limited editions so I dont think you will see the Leonardo again. It will move to the next in the series. When I do not know

@BarberDave I’ve been watching your recent videos and enjoyed them. Thanks for sharing your barber tips and tricks. I’ve personally changed my Aftershave regimen from splash then balm to balm then splash, followed by talc - FANTASTIC! subtle but favorable regimen change. Look forward to the complete SV tour to narrow down my next purchase. Thanks 👍🤫

Day-5 Tour of Saponificio Varesino
Mirto Di Sardegna

Welcome to day number 5, and a lesser known offering by SV. The inspiration of this scent is the Myrtle of Sardinia and a distilled liquer that both Corsica and Sardinia are known for called "Mirto" a sweet pungent, bitter drink that has an essence of a Deep Red Merlot, Cab, or Siraz in this authors opinion. As with all SV it has a colonia base, however this one is spicy, strong and has decent silage for an aftershave, with peppery merlot hints throughout the day. Performance is 4.3 so the top of the line in terms of lather, slickness and post shave facial nourishment. A wonderful, even if less popular. I even found myself asking why I do not use this more, Aftershave is top notch, but does require ,massaging into the skin to get the best benefit of all the goodness contained. If you like a spicy soap and Aftershave, with hint of "Mirto" then thus one is a try for you. As it is an early version it only comes in a "pet" container, so storage will be one to think of. This also does not have a current EdP, just the aftershave.

A nice 3-pass with the Red Tip and DSBBS, a talc finish after the Mirto and all is fantastic
