BarberDave's Shaveapalooza

I happened to stop by a Nieman Marcus the other day to sample that Creed Neroli. The scent was, unfortunately for me, fleeting; it vanished before I even left the store.

Love to read about your shaves Dave...today is no exception! By the way...the number of visilli's you are taking seems to be increasing! Why not do away with that civilised unit of measurement and convert over to "glugs?"

Keep on, keeping on!

Thanks Don, and the Creed Neroli is like Heroin to me and it doeshave a bit of lightness to it, so I do go a bit overboard, LOL

It is light, agreed but It works pretty well on me but I do have to put on a bit more. The silage on the Tom Ford version is a bit more, but this scent is better.

Oh and some other good news. Through a Secret Source I was able to get a set of tangerine creeper for the original price ( was not going to pay e bay pricing. Looking sooooo forward to this based on the reviews here and I have a feeling it will match well with either the Creed or Tom Ford Neroli. Very excited.

Thanks all for reading

That is some awesome news about the Creeper! You are indeed a very lucky man!

Out of curiosity, do you discuss the current products of shaving with other students or your instructors? Just wondering what they think?

What’s this now?

Tried to find it now and can't but on their website when I opened an account in case I wanted to be up at midnight to try and order the creeper they had a way to sign up for a drawing to win a tub of the soap Tangerine Creeper so I threw my hat in the ring. It's a long shot but ya never know. Sorry I couldn't find the link

Finally a day I can log some Forum time. Although I am truly enjoying my new venture, it is getting old , due to time contraints, not getting on the forum, and having to shave with one system for a week or so. I just keep telling my self, come March 2019, I can go back to the reckless abandon of 1000's of soaps, aftershaves, razors and stuff. It is truly going to be epic.

As most of you know thanks to an observant member here, I was able to buy some Tangerine Creeper. Also as most of you know, although not a big fan of menthol, the cooling agent in the "Creeper Series" is very nice. In comparing the Lavender to the Tangerine, I found myself in a pickle. I am a lavender freak, and the Lavender Creeper is a next level lavender shave system. However............

Orange is my favorite color, orange fragrances are among my top choices as well. Then you take it to a whole new plane of existence when tangerine comes into the mix. This was a shave altering week, as I bathed in the glory that is this soap. there were some issues of which I will get to later, but overall it does deserve to share the shelf with the legendary Lavendar Creeper.

THB Soaps hit all the right marks for me. although not quite Elite, there are a T1 for sure. Although having to resort to a DE ( sorry DE guys, I just think shaving with a DE is like brushing your teeth, all automatic and boring ) If having to go to DE purgatory, then the PH classic is the one you want to go with, and the Astras are always good.

1st off the scent is out of this world and will pair with any orange fragrance you have. Not to sweet and the cooling agent in this is a notch up from the lavender creeper, which is the only knock to the soap, as it overpowers the wonderful tangerine fragrance a bit. Otherwise heaven.

3-pass shave all these days with DSBBS results all days. The aftershave is beautifully Tangeriney, so much so you want to drink it. Mine did have some particles that settled and in one case actually turned my skin orange. After a distillation through my steam distiller and a couple of filtering processes I was able to get all the particles out and the result was a bot more intense fragrance without the skin discoloring. I assume this may have been due to the bottles not being allowed to cure. Either way it is all good, and again the only knock to the Aftershave.

Overall a great shave week with the Creep and another hit now lets all say LIME CREEPER next, LOL

Set-up

Again, my sincere apologies for not being caught up on your journals, and thanks for reading

Penhaligon's English Fern Shave Soap ( Tallow Version )
Asylum Shave Works Royal Fougere Aftershave Splash
Penhaligon's English Fern EdT

So, another "catching up" log entry for the week. Although this was my set up for the last 5 days, today is the only one that really counts, as I was able to have a nice, non-rushed straight shave. I think I actually took over an hour, just to savor the experience that I only get twice a week now, LOL

English Fern......... Not much else to say. Perfection in a bottle and in the TALLOW version of the soap.... The new stuff, not so much, but once tamed in lathering not to bad. Thankfully I have some of the tallow to rejoice in what was, LOL

3-passes today from some rusty straight shave hands, and pretty good DSBBS overall, but I could tell that almost two weeks without a straight did show. Finished off with the Royal Fougere and of course the EDT.

I am getting just below a half bottle, so an order will be made soon to avoid any stress, LOL

Set-up today

With School and stuff I am wondering if I will ever get to 1000 str8 shaves, so I may try to see If I can somehow fit the straights back into the daily routine, we shall see.... Thanks for reading and I hope and pray all is well with you and yours.

Great stuff Dave, and very glad you were able to pick up a set of the Tangerine Creeper! I'm ashamed to admit that I met Stefan (of THB), at Pasteur's 2 weeks ago and neglected to ask if there was another planned Creeper release in the future.

Hope the schooling continues to go well for you Dave and the rest of life calms down for you! We'll be here when it does!

Great updates Dave!

Really weird about the orange coloration from the Creeper...wonder what might have caused that?

Hang in there! You’ll be done and out doing your own thing before you know it!

I noticed the same thing on my Tangerine Creeper. The first time I used it...my hands ended up orange! But all in all it is a great aftershave! nAnd the soap...while not elite status...has enough unique qualities about it...along with the truly great characteristics...make it a close to elite soap for me.

Glad to see school is working out ...even if it is a little taxing...I know you will keep with it and it will be over before you know it. Glad to see you posting!

Thanks Don, try filtering it though a couple to coffee filters that should help the particle issue

Some nice photos and set ups, Dave.

.....actually turned my skin orange....

But aftershave that does that? And soap that's not elite status? I don't get the hoopla. Why do folks set their alarms so they can pounce when the mystery date and time are finally announced to maybe be lucky enough to place an order?
