BarberDave's Shaveapalooza

Took me years to find a barbershop I liked and there's a reason why it costs $40 a cut. Interesting stuff that they have tiered barber (apprentice, barber, master, senior - all appropriately tiered). All do a fine job but I find that the masters and seniors are definitely quicker with the work. Barbers have their own rabbit holes too. A few hair cuts ago, the barbers were talking about their latest scissors and I got curious since its a blade, right? When we got to the question of how much and he said $700, my jaw dropped. Granted I guess a few of us would drop that much on our own blades.

I am catching up too and glad to see you doing well and the business looking good as well too!

I scored a handful of professional quality scissors thanks to my mom, they are incredible. I kept the smaller ones to use for my beard and trims but gave the others away. My wife insists on using my scissors to cut her heat shrink finger nail things. Probably not the best use but they do a great job of it.

Thanks Gents for all the comments, and I will share the plan.. at least as of now. I am thinking of a Italian Inspired barbershop a couple of chairs all SV products used and sold etc, etc etc, LOL

Greeting guys, Just a quick drive by for now, as things as school, home, and family have been a bit trying as of late. I will lust be sharing the shaves with not much comment ( as the applause raises fro the TSC Cadre, LOL ) Know that all the shaves have been DSBBS or better.

I am sounding like a broken record...... I do sincerely apologize for not being caught up on commenting on all of your journals. I have to finally throw up the white flag and just state I may not comment on all of them, but I do try to skim over all of them as time allows. A 35 hour day would certainly help. Just know that I , as well as Chris and Chad, really appreciate you taking the time to chronologue your shaving journey here with us.

I hope to find more time to spend here, but again, with School, Home, and some family issues that have popped up, I am finding it difficult to get caught up, so again apologies. As an owner of this site I should be spending more time here supporting YOU the members, just know for the time being YOU are all appreciated, especially for commenting on my journal, when my lack of reciprocation lately abounds.

Have a good week Gents!

Sorry to hear about the troubles. I pray they are resolved quickly and peacefully!

Best wishes during this time.

Hope issues settle for you Dave. Nice shaves and LOVE the Damascus Steel razor (I'm sure it's not your only one) I love Damascus steel and actually had a friend that does jewelry make me a wedding band out of some since I needed something more indestructible then previous rings.

Good catch-up, Dave. Things will eventually calm down for you and the family. Until then, take care of you and yours! We'll be here when it does slow down to give you the rightful ribbing you're missing out on now.

Dave...that razor and brush in the pick on the 8th...

. Wow! That thing is just beautiful!

And at the cost of sounding like a broken record...we know you are busy. And as a member of the site...we are all fully aware of such and we support you in your endeavor! I am sorry that home life is a bit challenging as of late, but we all know you are in school. And while it might seem to last forever...it is only temporary. Fight the good fight! We have your back! Don't worry about us too much...we will keep the lights on. And when you are all finished up with your other obligations you will be here to make TSC better than ever!

Keep on keeping on Dave!

Thanks for the "drive-by", Dave. We know you're busy, and no apologies necessary. Do you what you have to do for you and yours. We'll still be here.

Your banter is definitely missed Dave! Take care on the home front, and hurry up with school already!

Nice fly by Dave. Don't worry Chris and I are keeping the light on LOL. Focus on what you need. We aren't going anywhere.

Great couple of shaves and pictures Dave!

Praying the family issues subside without any issues!

As already stated and you know also, take care of you and yours, TSC will still be here.

Thanks Guys things are slowly getting back to normality. This is my weekly check in and visit the video Vlog for the hardware and software for the last week. So looking forward to a normal str8 shave and journal entry tomorrow, LOL

See you then

Finally a nice relaxing morning Str8 shave on my day off. I have really begun to appreciate these times when I can shave with a straight razor and go through all the "barbershop" steps to get a fantastic shave. Today was no exception, although Murphy did slapped me across the chin today, but more of a glancing blow, LOL

The Fili is fast becoming one of my top 5 Razors in the den. It is so easy to get a killer edge on it, and maintain it, plus it's 5/8 size makes her so maneuverable. SMDF is a tobacco leaf fragranced soap, however it is very light and more citrusy than you would imagine. Although not an elite contender it is T1 to be sure. Many have complained it is tough to lather and feels a bit gritty. This, for me at least, has been alleviated with lathering with very hot water and leaving a ton of water in the brush ( i.e. Marco Method ). It is the only soap I do that with, since I am a cold water shaver, but this seems to do the trick to get a brilliant lather, and tons of it.

3-passes today, with very minor cleanup for a DSBBS (5). I would have given it grail status except for the chin stripe today. Probably, as stated above, a bit of Mr. Murphy coupled with a bit of rusty. Still a fantastic shave.

One would think that neroli would not pair very well with a tobacco flower, however it was perfect. About 11 Vasilli's in the right spots made for a wonderful scent explosion with the Creed taking center stage, but hints of the SMDF peeking through.

Set-up:

Going to make another attempt this evening to get as caught up as I can on your journals. As always thanks for reading, and thanks for your support of the TSC forum, and being members

Love to read about your shaves Dave...today is no exception! By the way...the number of visilli's you are taking seems to be increasing! Why not do away with that civilised unit of measurement and convert over to "glugs?"

Keep on, keeping on!
