With Grapefruit, Apple, Jasmine, and Geranium, the warmer weather months make this nice and refreshing. The Beachwood and Frankincence with some spice, lend to the cooler temps, and adds a sophisticated warmth, especially in the EdT. a 3-pass shave with the Hayashi, and lather duty by the Yaqi, made for a great shave.

The Quinns, and talc smoothed it all out and then some liberal spritzes of the EdT finished it well

Looking forward to a nice Zoom Call and Bingo game this afternoon as well.

Have a Blessed Sunday Folks

Well, the beginning of the week starts for me after a very productive days off weekend. Today it’s all about lemon and lavender with the Darwin set and the Darwin razor.

This razor is highly aggressive and not the smoothest shave, but that’s not why you shave with it. It is just a beautiful piece of work with that nice retro look.

Three passes and BBS. Finished off with some elk the Darwin after shave and then finished off with L’Occitan Cedrat EdT

Have a great Wednesday folks

A very nice pre dawn shave with the noble otter Jack. Lemon, lime, juniper pine just some of the things that mine nose gets out of this soap almost sparkling.

The Thursday razor from my seven day set was a wonderful three pass shave. The Noble otter shave brush with a synthetic knot was on lather duty today.

Finished off with some talcum powder as well as the 1962 EdP from floris

Have a wonderful day folks

A trip to the northern parts of Italy and adding a little bit of Tifosi while we are at it.

SV Dolomiti was the choice of the day for the soap, the aftershave and using the artisan 2.0 in ivory for the SV brush. Great ladder for a three pack shave with Leonardo.

Finished off with the Ferrari Noble fig

It’s my Friday so we’re excited and I hope you enjoy your Saturday

This is a Youtube Series I knew would finally come up, and it did indeed get suggested that I do a series on shavettes / removable blade razors. Other than the Tedalus and AC style ( which I consider straights ) anyoone who has followed by Str8 journey knows I HATE shavettes. As the worst injury I have ever received, was due to a shavette, in my early Str8 shaving journey.

A common advice given is to try a shavette 1st then move on to str8s. BOLLOCKS! IMHO the blade is thin, and shorter, and when learning the are not forgiving. I know that bucks convention, but IMHO it is far better to learn the "Real Way" then use these DE, or hair Shaper Demons. LOL I get it... They are so much easier, not stropping, no honing blah, blah blah. Ya lazy sod! just stick to a DE, or SE ya bum. LOL J/K. Enter the true instrument of death, A weck, with a blade completely exposed, thin blade of death. Sure you can use the guard.....Wjhere is the fun with that.

So today, it was the death eater shown above, and the razor that gave me the worst injury ( yes emergency room visit and stitches ) when I was given that ill fated advice to start this way. Have not used since, was not planning to the the Subscriber request. Got Lucky and she allowed me to have a very nice shave, although I would argue the soap, balm, witch hazel had something to due with protecting me. Also after almost 7000 str8 shaves, technique played a large part, as I reverted to the standard technique for this shave rather than the tries and true cross- hand.

3- passed BBS only, as expected, and finished off with all the supporting cast. Tomorrow another Shavette to attempt a bloody finish, LOL

Have a blessed Sunday Folks

Shavette Series Day 2
“Wilkenson Sword…. Wilkenson Sad, Sad!”

Well another day in shavette hell, man these things suck. More of a traditional shavette today. At least the software was wonderful

Initial BBS will turn to dfs later and there was a bit of scarlet on the cheek.

I know a ton of folks like these, but do yourself a favor… Either just get off the fence and use a real str8, or if just spend the coin and get a Feather, or better yet find a Tedalus

Have a good Monday Folks!

Shavette Series Day 3 - Now for a proper shavette

08.26.2025.JPEG
Nice to be in the part of the series where GOOD shavettes are being used. A bit of a mish-mash, bit all blue to be "Matchy Matchy" Maggards London Barbershop ( one of the best BTW, not overly powdery). Feather AC Kami with Kai MG, TSC Anniversary Brush, Pacific Prince, and Penhaligons Endymion a very nice 3 pass DSBBS shave. although there was a bit of blood today from an angry follicle that I did a biopsy on, LOL

At the Ranch:

Finally some nice temps 70 in the morning only up to a high of about 80. We had tremendous storms last night, heavy rain wind, lighning..... A proper monsoon!. Also we sent our friend down in Casa Grande and Phoenix, one of these.....

HABOOB LOL just fun to say! Us locals just call it a Dust storm

Have a good day

Video postring soon

We had what looked like monsoon weather here in Vegas this morning.....but it blew away and now its sunny and warm. Still....it cooled to the mid-80's so I'll take it.
