TARDATE: AD:20180424 SR Shave #911
Pre-Shave Lather / Hot Towel & Rince / 15 Laps TM linen / 50 laps TM Strop
Post-Shave: Lucky Tiger Aftershave Salve / Cold Towel &
Rinse
30-laps Trans-Ark Hone / 25 Higgins English Linen / 50 Westholme Fast Draw

Geo. Wostenholm & Son 5/8 Wedge
Sorrentino Barzini / Fan Tuxedo Synthetic

P&B Spitfire Shave Soap
Avon Wild Country Aftershave Splash
Royall Muske
Cologne

After yesterday's shave there was not a bunch to mow down, but of course, the shave is required, LOL. Today was a hodge podge as I work through Shelf #2. Spitfire got the call, and since it is a unique gas, oil, leather, juniper, martini smell, why not confuse the senses and go completely nuts

P&B soaps are wonderful great lather, super residual slickness and one load of the soap ( via SV method ) yields more than enough for tons of passes. the Wosty Wedge continues to defy logic, as although I have always had trouble getting a good edge, or so I thought, it continues to give great shaves. It is scary quiet on both the strop and face, so sometimes it is hard to gauge, but at the end he always comes through
.

3- passes today and DSBBS. When thinking about pairing, convention was tossed out the window, but surprisingly the Wild Country tones down the soap and melded well, and the Royall Muske, just enhance and brought a nice finish to the confusion. Who knew, LOL A great shave.

Have a great day Folks

Sounds like a fun and interesting shave.

All of my straights are partial hollow and I have yet to try a wedge. It does sound like wedges are a very different shaving experience.

Oh yeah I meant to ask forgot, who's oil do you use on your Trans Ark?

I keep saying oil, but it is actually Smith's Honing Solution

Dave, I'm really looking forward to giving the Ark another try, now that you've spent so much time and energy getting it "right". I certainly won't be able to blame it on the stone anymore; from now on, I'll know for a fact that it's all my fault - LOL.

Regarding the Spitfire soap...."unique" is certainly one way to describe it - oy.

LOL, Thanks Chris, I hope it works for you, it is a very nice stone and was fun to work on, in fact I did my MK*33 on it and WOW. As to the spitfire, nothing like smelling like an airplane garage after a bourbon and cigar bender when wearing a leather flight jacket, LOL

An apt description of the Spitfire scent - LOL.

BTW, I forgot to give you a big thumbs up on the movie reference - perfect!

30-laps Trans-Ark Hone / 25 Higgins English Linen / 50 Westholme Fast Draw

Koraat Ice Dragon Damascus 6/8
Koraat Ice Dragon Brush / HMMW

Captain's Choice North Shave Soap / Aftershave Splash
Penhaligon's Juniper Sling EdT

Really awesome shave today, as I continue on Shelf #2 of the soap locker. CC North was the call of the day, a great excuse to use the Juniper Sling as well. For this shave one one set-up would work.... the ICE DRAGON. Ulrick's masterpiece and such a smooth running machine.

I will state for the record I love the CC products, but, the residual slickness post pass is nil. This could be considered a good thing as it is a clean rinsing soap, however it is a knock for me, and wish it was better in that are. for this reason it is a T2 soap for me, but again, still nice. The fragrance of North is outstanding in both the soap and AS, and just beats out Venture, Scott's newest creation. A forest of Juniper and a campfire is the vibe here with just a touch of cold, Kindo of a Game of Thrones thing going on.

3-passes today and DSBBS (G) (4) today. Transported back to a London pub with a nice liberal about of Vasilli's of the Juniper Sling. Gin & Tonic , Lime and heaven. Dare I say it is in the running against English Fern, and for those that know me, that is an epic statement, LOL

All in all a great start to the day. Hope yours was too!
