BarberDave's Shaveapalooza

At last! I was wondering where you've been hiding the good stuff, Dave! That was an excellent read to catch up. So happy that things with the business are doing well, and of course your photos are second to none!

Thanks Guys, I will get caught up with you journals soon Good to see your here Jim

STARDATE: AD 20180419- SR shave #907

Pre-Shave Lather Hot Towel & Rinse / 50 Laps T. Miller Strop pre-shave
30 laps Trans Ark / 25 laps English Linen / 50 laps Westholme
Lucky Tiger Post Shave Salve / Cold Towel &
rinse

CV Heljestrand MK*31 dressed in Ivory
Omega Hi-Brush / Angel Hair Synthetic
Mystic Water Orange Vanilla Shave Soap
Fine L'Orange Noir Aftershave Splash
Royall Mandarin Cologne

Orange was the theme of the day, and yet another shave with Michelle's Magic Soap. The 32 proves to still be at the top of the list of shavers, only a tad behind the 32 and 33 in the stable. MW lather is a no brainer, and the Omega synth tore it up.

3-passes today for DSBBD (G) (10) Another stellar top 5 shave today. Finished off with more Orange goodness for the AS and Cologne

Set-up:

Hope everyone has a great day. My apologies for not being up-to-date on all the journals, hope to rectify that this weekend

~ Cheers

Great shave Dave. This post made me think about my razors. I just realized mine are all American made. I really need to broaden my horizons.

Your posts are really making me want to dig my straight razors out, and finally getting around to getting a finisher and learning to hone them on my own. Keep it up!

Stellar result Dave! Making me think I should break out my MK*31, but honestly, I cannot remember the condition it was in when I put it away. I have my NOS C_MON Blackie sitting on the counter that I thought I would try and make a comparison to the Cadillac, but I have been so into the BRW of late I can't bring myself to use anything else.

Thanks Guys and KJ,...... Get to it!

Great shave today...the Mk*31 is definitely a beautiful shaver. The Royall Mandarin always piques my interest when I see it come up...how's the longevity on those?

Thanks Josh, it is Ok, nothing to write home about, but a wonderful skin feel and the fragrance is wonderful, albeit a bit fleeting, but if warm enough you can catch hints of it all day

STARDATE: AD 20180420 - SR shave #908

Pre-Shave Lather Hot Towel & Rinse / 50 Laps T. Miller Strop pre-shave
30 laps Trans Ark / 25 laps English Linen / 50 laps Westholme
Lucky Tiger Post Shave Salve / Cold Towel &
rinse

Filarmonica 14 JMP MT
Sorrentino Luca Brasi / Envy Silvertip
Barrister & Mann Seville Shave Soap,
La Toja Aftershave Splash
Penhaligons Opus 1870 EdT

A bit of Spain, a Tad of Detroit Italian, Some London all made for a great "hodge podge" shave today. Still have not gotten to re-dressing and updating Sevilliana yet, so she remains a bit faded and rough, but has it where it counts. Very keen and smooth. Until this razor I was not really into larger heavy grinds, but no one does it better that Filarmonica. Just place the blade on your face and let the weight do the work. Wonderful.

Coming down to the end of the B&M Seville and not sure If I will re-order. Love the scent but B&M soaps have always been middle road for me.Still not bad. Luca did his job well, and if you have not placed an Envy Silvertip knot in anything, you need to. Great face feel, good flow through and when matched with a Sorrentino Base, how could you go wrong

3-passes today and DSBBS (g). Finished up with a healthy splash of the La Toja splash and a bunch of Dotties of the 1870, which I think is one of Penhaligon's classiest Fragrances, that does not get alot of attention. It is fantastic.

Set-up:

Have a wonderful day my friends

Great shave!

I have yet to try B&M or (sadly) Penhaligon's products. You make me want to splurge on some Pen's. I have definitely missed your subtle enabling, Dave. Although, based on your impressions I might skip trying B&M.

Great set-up and shave today! Is Opus their take on the Barbershop scent? I was under the impression that Bayolea held that place for Pens...

Thanks Doug, Well now you are here, so hold onto that wallet, LOL. I would not let my overall opinion of B&M sway you it is a great soap, just does not work the bes for me. It is worth trying, I have to admit I have 5, LOL
