This shave was late last night for a morning appointment today. For some unfathomable reason I have the song “Alone Again, Naturally” by Gilbert O’Sullivan playing in my head. I’ve never liked this song; it was pop pablum to med compared to the other music of the day. Now it falls into the broad category of music that reminds me of another time, so it’s weirdly OK now. Sometimes I think my brain is cracked.

G’day, Cadre! An overcast cool day here at 54F/12C here, a bit drizzly. We had a full day of rain yesterday in the form of a nice long soaking. Much needed as we are in a drought for just the third time in the 45 years I’ve lived here. Am awaiting the arrival of a couple tubs of new soap that @BarberDave recommended, which I’ll use tomorrow, if the tracking info is correct. Good thing Dave brought it to my attention a few days ago, as my typically plentiful soap stock is lower than I’d realized. I have the Sudsy Soapery Unscented Tallow, which is nearly gone, and my MSB tub has even less. Usually I have one or two full tubs in stock, or one tub and a good amount of MSB. Let me stress that though I may have a couple tubs handy, this is NOT hoarding. By ordering two tubs at a time, I save on shipping, therefore it is economically prudent, and it reduces my carbon footprint so future generations may hopefully be able to live on this planet. Lower quality MSBs are often called Clown Puke on the forums here, but I never use that crap, only the good stuff blended personally by yours truly, hence the moniker My Special Blend.

I bought two tubs of this tallow soap after a strong recommendation from @BarberDave. It comes in a small overfilled 3.5 oz container, so I scooped it out and put it into a larger one. It whips up easily with a little bit of water, creating a thick, cushiony lather. The glide is simply amazing - the razor slid across my face with ease. As mentioned, it is an Uncscented product. The superb quality of the Unscent essence is simply superb. In fact both my brother in Boston and a friend in Alabama assured me that they couldn’t smell the soap, not even a whiff! Cadre, this is quite possibly the best Unscented soap I’ve ever used. The tubs should last for a long time as very little is needed to produce the lather.
