A Spartan's Tale

Yes, handle is metal. It was turned by a friend (Evan).
As to First Canadian- it used to be First Canadian Shave Soap and was made in Barrie. Ownership changed over to the current First Canadian Shave in 2017. They have their own base, but kept the Maximo Gomez scent, amongst others. I love this scent, so bought an extra tub on sale when the old company was sold.
This was the old tub and branding:

There were two formulas with the old company. This was the ‘newer’ one and was quite good for me.The first often produced granules, apparently.
Thanks for the education- I love the history of our hobby.

This will never do. If you're going to use a soap, use it till gone.
Yes, sir. I'll try to do better...I am a slave to variety, though.
I mean, it's a good start, but a true 3017er 3017s everything, including soap.
You are right of course...I really never was so good at the true 3017 thing. Gave a few tubs the 1508.5 routine and that worked ok.
by buying new soaps you are stimulating the economy, bolstering our credit rating, increasing our prestige overseas, thereby strengthening Democracy around the world. Take a stand for Democracy, Jason, use & buy more soaps!
Good points! I'm in Canada though, and I'm not so sure you are meaning to increase Canuck prestige across the globe...:)

The journey chronologically through the OCs takes a jump forward from the vintage to the modern. A very good shave with this quality RR shaver. Some have said the narrow blade gap doesn't work for them, but I've had good success with it. Love the heavy handle as well, the heaviest in the den, methinks. I was inspired by others posting pics of the excellent Eau Sauvage in the past few days to reach for it as well today.
Have a great day all!

one of my favorite shaving creams, Jason! I also like their lavender, which unfortunately, I can’t use except in SWMBO’s absence as it gives her a migraine. She has no problem with the lime.

You and so many of our brethren and brethwomen, sad to say. I won't pretend to understand this phenomenon... Some form of mass hysteria, maybe?
Why do I picture dinner choices at your house much like Sheldon from Big Bang? It's Wednesday. We can't have Chinese because Wednesdays we have Italian. What do you mean.... just change it up!?!?!

Another fine shave with the OC GC Jaws again today. Once again, seeing the bottom of this tub has eluded me. It is well named.
Maybe I'll have to take @Graybeard57 's advice and move to a true 3017:unsure:... Nah, but potentially to a 1508.5 for every 2nd shave.
Have a great day all!

Inspired by @NurseDave 's shave yesterday to reach for the stellar Desert Vetiver this morning. Most of my SVs have the matching splash, but I found this Fine Grey Vetiver dupe is a very nice complementary scent to the soap. This transplanted knot is a solid 'meh' from me... I think it is just too short lofted. I can't really set it any shallower either. Oh well.
Have a great day all!
