A Place for Deep Thought

I can relate to the insurance issues. Hope you get things straightened out. Really sucks that there are a bunch of accountants sitting there deciding if the doctor is right or not.

How do you rate that soap?

It's one of my top 3. Great stuff for me, mild soapy smell, and lathering is easy! If I recall correctly, Shannon is a chemist whose husband has or had a dermatology issue and she made soap for his use, initially.

Great looking brush!
Thanks. Like the Christopher Bradley razor, it is also from Canada. AP Shave Co SynBad (synthetic badger). Yaqi uses the same fibers, but Andrew at AP Shave Co makes it more dense, giving it a Wall of Softness feel! I have two, a 26mm and the Big Guy, a 30mm lather your face in a couple of strokes!

I have spent the last week shaving with the samples of CBL Tonsorial, as part of the testing group. So far, my eyebrows have connect to make a unibrow (like the ole Carol Burnett skit) and one nostril is growing a nice thick hedge.

Just kidding!

I liked all three samples. The soap does rinse off very easily and cleanly, so much so that there is no residual soap left, compared to other soaps I have experience with. Those other soaps rinse off, but it usually requires a little more splashing and rinsing. The Tonsorial samples rinse off very fast and leave a my face feeling refreshed, if that is a thing. One of my favorite soaps rinses off, no tackiness, but I can still smell the soapy scent it has, which means some of the soap must still be on my face. Tonsorial left me truly clean, and my face felt good, not dry, not tight. Well, there was a little tightness, but I believe that is from a medicated get for rosacea that I apply to my cheeks, nose, and forehead before leaving the bathroom. It undoubtedly has some alcohol or other drying agent in it, as it may cause a tingle if I shaved to aggressively!

As I shave with my other soaps now, I will be comparing them all to the Tonsorial experience. My other soaps are all tallow based, and all seem to have more of an unscented scent than the tonsorial, some stronger soap smell, some not so strong.

In other shave news, my order from 11/29 for a SS Karve is still in limbo, like so many others. I have my confirmation of the order, but no word on shipping. I knew going in that it would be a wait, but man, waiting is tough sometimes!!

Great report Eric! Glad you’re having a good experience with the soaps.

Hang in there with the Karve! Hopefully the delay isn’t something serious!

Set up for this week is my trusty Karve with a Rapira Platinum Lux blade, my big SynBad, and Mystic Water Soap's Sensitive Skin. While not purposefully scented, there is a scent from the ingredients. This has been my Soap to Compare All Others To for as long as I have been shaving with traditionally. Having just finished over a week of testing Tonsorial samples, I am looking forward to comparing my experiences.

Happy shaves to all, and a very Merry Christmas to you all!

Great stuff, Eric! I've got some of the MW unscented as well, and have always been really impressed with it.

Two shaves in with the Rapira Platinum Lux. Great blade for my, as is the Personna Red and Gillette Nacet. The blade (the Platinum Lux) felt so smooth on comfortable on the first pass of day 1 that I wondered for a moment if I'd actually changed blades or even had one in the razor!

I had some Bic Chrome Platinums that I really liked, so I bought a 100 pack from a member of another forum. Last month, I tried two different blades and seemed to be getting lousy shaves. So I plan to revisit the Bic in the New Year.

And, thanks to @Dave in KY , I am considering the "S" word for 2020. I failed 2 others Ss (on another forum) in 2017 and 2018. But I have my set up now so maybe 2020 will be the year? Plus, 3 exceptions would cover me. All in fun and as long as I continue to keep spending (especially impulse spending) curbed, it would be a good time of focusing on what I have.

I wasn’t a fan of the Bic or Rapira. Personna are Ok for me though! Have yet to try Nacet. Always fun to see what works for others vs yourself!

I don't know if I have enough will power to do the S word
I joined the others with the idea that I would try not to buy, but no problem if something came up that I really wanted. I told myself that it would be one purchase, than back to restraint. Yeah, that worked out well! Ended up buying any and everything that caught my eye! I hope to have more will power now!
