Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Nice video Dave. Enjoyed it. That "sample" you have is somewhere between 1/4 and 1/3 of a full tub. So it will last you a good long time. I'd recommend melting it down into a tub, so you can lather off it like normal. Of course if you enjoy using it like a stick, then keep on!

Thanks KJ. Nope, it's too slick to slide it around and get enough on. I need to melt it into 1 of my 4 oz tubs from Stirling. Can I just put it in the tub and microwave it?

Yes, just do a lower power setting. You can do it on high, bust just watch it carefully. I use the Melt-butter setting on my microwave. Stop it before it melts completely, the liquid will get hotter and will melt the last of it as you stir.

Sorry, quick google search and done. Used a glass measuring cup to be safe. Cooling in the Stirling tub now. Thanks

2019 Shave # 5

Razor: Rockwell 6s Plate 5
Blade: Pol Silver SI (2)

Brush: BAOIP Brush (Brush Ashamed Of It's Past)

Soap: CFG Ghost Town Barber (3017 Shave 4)

Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: CFG Ghost Town Barber

So I wanted to load heavy from a boar brush and only have my 1st brush from the circa 1979/80 and my brush of shame which hence forth will be called the baoip brush. Pokey is showing what he thinks of it in the pic. Since it needs further breaking in I opted for it and loaded like I was loading for 2 ( I actually was for dekeester) Hard loading 20 seconds got a nice lather going and moved the needle on the lidless tub to 4.7 oz. Got an awesome shave and actually chased a it on my neck with good results. Honestly I get my best overall shaves from the 6s. Some of my razors may look cooler, get closer and the shave lasts longer but NONE (for me) get as close and last as long with ZERO irritation even when shaving on autopilot. I should get this cero-coated at some point because while I like it's look, I would like it better in a 2 tone color scheme. Allergies have been kicking my butt lately but I'm surviving. Hope the Cadre has a splendid day and weekend !!!
