I have nothing more to add to the post. I realize you think it seems callous but I would never say that I hope his son dies. It never even crossed my mind until I saw you say it. And I wouldn't wish that on him or anyone. I'm just pointing out that there are lots of people who are spouting about how the virus is a hoax, it isn't real, it's not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. And they use this mindset to justify behaviors that put other people at risk. So when I see someone like Mr. Woolery now experiencing the virus in a different light and seeing how it is changing his tune, or where other people who claim it's a hoax and go to covid parites where the point is to see who can get the virus first, all of them thinking they can't get it, and then someone does get it and ends up passing away, it's important for those who still believe the virus isn't anyting to worry about to hear these stories and see what that kind of thinking can end up causing for those who don't believe. The entire point of my post is not to say that his son should die. It's for deniers to realize it's real and can impact anyone. Please don't add things to my post that aren't there. If you still think it's inappropriate, then delete it. I don't think it's inappropriate given the intended message. I hope you see that as well.

Your post was quite clear. In fact, you are typically very precise and purposeful with your words, so I think I understand what you meant to say. And yeah, the phrase “what goes around comes around” in reference to Chuck’s tweets yesterday and his son being diagnosed with COVID19 today IS callous, Thanks for confirming you didn’t want to include any additional harm ...just a diagnosis of COVID as payback for spouting all that garbage about it being a hoax so a bunch of greedy Americans can get back to work(paraphrasing chucks words here), that will do. What goes around comes around ya know.

I don’t tweet. I don’t follow anyone who does tweet. I don’t give a hoot what Chuck says or that our President retweeted (shared) his tweet. BUT, when I heard about Chuck’s son being diagnosed with COVID today after all the retweeting news yesterday and how the chuck’s twitter account had been shut down (not retracted as you said) my heart went out to the guy. My first thought was NOT “well, what goes around comes around”. My first though was more along the lines of how hard it must be for him as a dad right now. His son is sick, and because he has COVID (even if chuck doesn’t believe COVID exists) he won’t be able to be by his side. This dad won’t be able to even be in the same room as his son until/unless his son recovers...and if (God forbid) his son takes a turn for the worse, Chuck will get to watch from even further away. While WE sit here bitching about wearing masks and remote schooling HE might be watching his son die on video, he might have already embraced his son for the last time. That’s where my mind went. THEN I thought about the irony of the situation and I wondered how that irony must compound this guys pain and grief.

I am sorry, but Chuck’s tweets, as crazy and harmful as they may have been were done with a ‘greater good’ at their core (in his mind). That greater good bring to prevent all of us being victims of what he perceived as a hoax and to benefit the American economy. YOUR post served only to dish out retribution “what comes around goes around” against someone who held an opposing view.

As for adding things to your post that weren’t there...well, you did that with your response above, because all of THAT most certainly was not hidden in the “what goes around comes around” post.

I am very purposeful with my words, usually. Not always, but most of the time. And I don't see the Covid diagnosis as payback at all. Again, missing the point. The point here is that as someone who did not believe the dangers that Covid poses to the population, their denying of the realities of the virus likely led them to take many more risks during their daily travles than they should have. My POINT is that people need to take this seriously, unlike the Woolery's. It's not like this is a new thing anymore. It's been around for 5 months in thsi country already. We've seen the number of cases spike, subside, and then spike again. And we know why now. We are no longer guessing. There are only two reasons the numbers dropped. Social distancing and masks. Period. End of story. To deny this is denying facts. Is denying reality. And is resulting in the current spikes in cases and deaths we are seeing now. All this virus needs to go away is for people to simply do the right thing for a while and use common sense. That seems to be in short supply these days. I too don't have a twitter account. I don't tweet. I don't follow people who tweet. I think twitter is for twits. But we should care what our president tweets, shares, says and does because his tweets, shares and speech dictates what a whole lot of people do in this country. If you don't believe me just take a look at Florida, Texas, Arizona and many other states that are seeing record numbers of cases. My brother works in the Miami healthcare system and he told me yesterday that his hospital is full, with people with Covid. I just don't understand what more people need to understand just what is happening here right before their eyes yet they don't see it. It's infuriating because their actions impact other people. If that wasn't the case, then we wouldn't be having this conversation. And it matters not what Woolery's intent was with his tweets. He showed a total lack of common sense and the "greater good" never even factored into it. My post did not dish out retribution. My post screamed "Look at this person who has denied that Covid is dangerous and carried on with his life in such a way that he risked the life of his own son." THAT is what it says. I'm sorry that you don't see that. I enjoy this forum. There are lots of really good people here. You included. Our prior interactions have been nothing but positive. But good god open your eyes and see what is going on and see why people like myself are at our whits end with so many people willing to be so cavalier and CALLOUS with other people's lives. If you want me gone from your forum, that is certainly your prerogetive. It is your forum after all. I stand by what I said and reject the meanings that you attribute to my post.

GENTLEMEN. Please read the above quotes, and then read them again. Let's get the ship back on course please.
 
We had a bit of a scare this week. A friend we’ve let into our bubble was exposed to a person who tested positive with very mild symptoms. Of course they found out about the positive test after the exposure. Timing of our exposure and everything, we weren’t too worried about being infected, but we were happy that their test came back negative. I managed to track down a pulse oximeter in the interim in case we needed it. Fortunately it’s all good!

I'm glad to hear that everything is okay! Does the oximeter require a finger prick like a glucometer?

Good news so far.
We had a similar event but it involved my son (who lives with us) and one of his coWorkers. Long story that involves deception, intrigue, suspense and all of that but fortunately no tragedy.
Good move on the pulse ox. They are finding it to more useful than temperatures in detecting onset/infections. Not everyone gets a fever (even those who are hospitalized don’t all get fevers) but everyone experiences a drop in O2 sats. Good to track and know your personal baselines anyway.
 
We have a few of those O2 sensors around our house. We keep them because some of the family uses cpap machines and for other reasons and if anyone visits and has problem they can check O2. They are pretty neat.
