Don’t see a Bubba Gumps but it’s possible.

We’re just across the street from the Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha Kona Beach hotel. Our parasail left out of Kailua Pier.

Let’s see…

One of at least the missus and I on the boat post-parasail:

Sorry, I’ve only seen a few of your posts…. What island are you on? I’m only familiar with Oahu.
We’re on Hawaii, the Big Island. Very suffering from Oahu (which is also amazing)…much more rural in most areas.

Ah. Thanks. I’m pretty familiar with Oahu, but nothing you’ve posted has looked familiar, so I thought you were elsewhere. I do wish I could check out the other islands!

Secret tour from a local friend today to some special spots:
We didn’t get too close, out of respect, but here is a heiau (sacred temple ground). The flat structure is one of the outlying walls that still remains. You'd probably dismiss it if you didn’t know to look for it or it’s significance.

Interesting “secret” outlet where the surface sand is black but once you disturb a spot, you can see yellow sand underneath.

And finally the turn-around point of our hike - locals call it “The Crack” where a fresh water spring flows out from deep inland, through a huge fracture in the lava fields, out to the ocean. This is one of the most accessible points - a literal large crack down through the flow, to the spring water. The water was clear as glass.

Pu’uhonua o Honaunau (aka City of Refuge) by Kona, where individuals who had broken laws (even some ones that carried the consequences of death) could go to atone and have their debt wiped clean:

I have said it a thousand times. Turf fields waste a lot of water. They run the sprinklers to cool them down. Before the water was on the field read 145 degrees. At kick off and after sprinklers it read 105.
