Etat Libre d’Orange Tom of Finland
A terrific modern leather, which has that creamy, plasticly type of a feel. Grace Jones Warm Leatherette should be the theme song for this.
I got this after liking my sample which was dark ochre color, and when my bottle arrived, it was clear, so I wondered if it was reformulated. Maybe it just wasn’t as aged, as mine is beginning to take that color on now. I need to take a pic soon.
It is a bit sad to me, that ELdO decided to change the name, and packaging, now it’s called Clean Suede, and maybe that sums up how I feel about their current direction. They’ve dropped some favorites from the line, and the latest releases are more and more generic. Not to say they don’t have some great offerings, but for sure they are moving towards playing it safe, and well I don’t think it fits the house, but what do I know.

Frederic Malle Cologne Bigarade
Lovely light and juicy bigarade opening that goes into a close wearing but fairly long lasting creamy musk dry down. Top quality classy cologne, at Malle prices, maybe a hard sell, but thankfully got it for a steal from a local frag group member. I’ve gotten really lucky with some buys in that group.

Pierre Guillaume Yuzu ab Irato
Pierre is maybe more know for his modern work with aromachemicals, but whenever he turns to old school classics for inspiration, the results are inevitably fantastic. Yuzu ab Irato is a top notch take on a citrus-herbal fougere. There’s just enough dirt in here to make stand up. I don‘T hink much about AS and frag pairs but this and Alvarez Gomez were a great way to start the day.

Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier - Grain de Plaisir
I've really gotten into this house over the last year, great niche takes on classic fragrances, done with taste and understated style. This is a fantastic low key take on a grassy/hay fougere that includes a celery note that actually works to tie the fragrance together.

Dark vegetal green goodness, this is actually one of my personal all time favorites, though I can imagine it wouldn't be most people's. It's got a thick juicy jungle leaf feeling to it, with a rich patchouli note that ties it together. I just find it very comforting, and though the two fragrances bare no resemblance to each other, it makes me feel like I wanted to feel with Tom Ford's Beau de Jour, because of how the patchouli works here. Again this isn't at all like BdJ, it's just my very personal association.
