TV Shows

I started watching with the wife a show called "Motherland: Fort Salem" last night. It's an interesting concept and as far as I can tell, a pretty original story. I am a sucker for shows and movies that if there were in a book, it would be considered YA Fiction.

Anyway...from the one episode that I watched, it seems this is an alternate reality type of show. The United States is at way with an organization that acts a lot like terrorist cells that we are used to seeing with the likes of Al-Queda. But instead of soldiers being on the front lines of this war...the battle lines are fought by witches. The first episode follows three young witches while they are in a basic training scenario.

Deadline describes it as: "Set in an alternate America where witches ended their persecution 300 years ago by cutting a deal with the U.S. government to fight for their country, Motherland: Fort Salem follows three young women — two of them played by Taylor Hickson and Jessica Sutton — from basic training in combat magic into early deployment. In this world, the traditional roles of gender and power are flipped, with the more dominant women on the front lines fighting looming terrorist threats that are familiar to our world — but with supernatural tactics and weapons." ‘Motherland: Fort Salem’ Witches-Themed Drama Gets Freeform Series Order

The show broadcasts on Freeform and I was able to watch it on Hulu. Freeform does have a stand alone streaming app, but you will need a cable or streaming service log in.

Anyway...after one episode...I thought this was a pretty original show and fairly well done. I actually thought of @Spider for this show.

We finished season 1 of Locke & Key on Netflix last night. Pretty entertaining show—kind of reminded me of a combination of Stranger Things, The Umbrella Academy, and The Haunting of Hill House.

Edit: I believe the show is based on a graphic novel.

I believe is based on a Graphic Novel as well. Your comparisons are pretty spot on. I REALLY liked that show. It's definitely one of the better things that Netflix has put out in a while.

Finished up the second season of Altered Carbon on Netflix. While I think the fist season was exponentially better...the second season was pretty good also. Can't wait for the third season to see how they move forward with the Twist (that wasn't all that big of a twist in my opinion). But all in all...a pretty good series.

OMG Better cal Sal is so good!
Was hooked on the Tiger king done with that in 2 days!!
Narcos Mexico crazy good.
Can not wait for Ozark Friday 3/27
And the Crown is really good!

I need to catch up on Ozark. Watched the first season and the first couple episodes of the second season and then...well, I don't know what happened.

The wife and I watched the first season of The Crown, but for whatever reason didn't continue.

Both are really good shows!

I started watching Tiger King last night while my wife was working on a puzzle (I’m red/green colorblind, so pretty useless in the puzzle department 😂). Those animal people are crazy!!

Okay...so on your recommendations the wife and I watched Tiger King last night. Yes I was hooked from the first episode and even though everyone on that series is a complete train wreck...I could not look away. The entirety of it all was just so...Bizarre. I don't know if there is any other way to describe it. I HIGHLY recommend watching it.

We’ve been watching McMillions on HBO. It’s about how the McDonald’s Monopoly game was rigged. It’s pretty entertaining.

On a related note, HBO is apparently free right now. No need to sign in or anything if you have cable—on demand just works!

I did watch it. Very good but thought it was about 2 shows too long. Good beginning and good ending.

curb your enthusiasm to me is great. Larry David is a trip. It is my kind of comedy.
Thanks for the HBO info.

We decided to start binge watching The Soprano's. Saw them all the first time around years ago. Watching that first episode really drove home how great the writing is and how laugh out loud funny some of it is. Watched episodes 1, 2 and 3 last night. Looking forward to a few more tonight.

Hmm, that's one maybe we should try. Never did see it. We're into Succession right now.

Succession is a great show. I was hooked as soon as it came out. I saw lots of parallels with the family that occupies the White House. That comes from not just anecdotal accounts but from my own dealings with the family. Kendall Roy is spot on Don Jr. Spot on. Trust me. I've met him and done business with him a couple times. Spot on.

Just finished The Good Place. It went on just a little too long, but i was surprised about how emotional I feel after the finale.
