TSC Watch List

A somewhat divisive choice among watch enthusiasts - the Vostok Amphibia (scuba dude).

Some folks seem to consider these disposable junk...but I think they are fun and unique watches. I did a tiny bit of modding on this one, brushing the bezel and case to take it down from its original shiny state to something a bit more subtle. It's my understanding that the bezels on older models than this are actually chrome over brass, and I have seen a few lovely examples of Vostok bezels that have had a chemical bath to make the brass visible. I would love to do that...but I believe mine is not a brass bezel...and they seem near impossible to find kicking around on the internet. But I still enjoy wearing it once in a while for a splash of colour and fun - the teal face is really striking in certain light.TIAX1974.JPG

It was more of a color issue than a number issue. But if you put a leather band on that yellow and blue monstrosity....I'll give you a Watch Wars win.
Orange and black is a striking color combination strongly associated with energy and sophistication in fashion, branding, and nature, with black adding depth to orange's vibrancy, creating themes from festive to elegant. Psychologically, black conveys authority and elegance, while orange brings warmth and confidence, making the pairing dynamic for various uses beyond seasonal decor, from bold interiors to fashion statements.

This watch is so gorgeous - to me, anyway - in person, but kinda hard to photograph...the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 in mother of pearl.

The mother of pearl is very subtle - in a lot of light it simply looks like a cream coloured waffle dial...but then the light hits it and there's a little explosion of reds, greens, pinks and blues.

I know that with their resurgence, there are folks who aren't super into integrated bracelets...but I dig this look. This is actually my first proper Swiss watch.

My wife and I actually got each other these for our 1st anniversary. She was really in love with the ice blue dial, so I got her that, which at the time only came in the quartz version. (A lot of people say that the quartz PRX is actually the best value proposition, given that it is, with the exception of the movement, the same watch...but I do love mechanical movements so...). The quick releases on these lovely butterfly bracelets are really easy to use...so we are able to swap these out with each other when the urge hits, which is super fun.
