Trials of a woodpusher: Adventures in chess, backyard gardening, and maybe whisker chopping

Salads… Where are the salads?
Dave, the obvious problem with dandelion salads is what of the upcoming crop of Samanure™️? Wherever our dear friend were to spread his internationally renowned fertilizer there would be yellow as far as the eye can see. Good for the bees, but not good for Sam’s back.

Almost June and just about 2 months since I posted here! Where does the time go? Tune in to tonight's Zoom call for more inflammation , ummmm, intimidation, err, incubation ...... Oh I give up.... More word stuff!

I promise it will be as exciting as my journal posts!

So here's what new over the past few months:
-Shaving daily
- teaching/coaching chess to kiddies on Tuesday evenings
- teaching/coaching bridge to seniors on Thursday afternoons
- playing over-the-board chess (i.e. normal chess) on Thursday evenings
- playing ~50 correspondence chess games as I still quest after my SIM/GM title
- holding 2 volunteer exec board positions for the Canadian Correspondence Chess Association

and add to those daily activities,
- getting ready for cruise at the end of the month to see Amsterdam, Loch Ness, and both sides of the Irish Sea
AND
- working on getting a financial planner accreditation/certification and starting a small business for retirement planning.

See, not much going on here at all.

Oh... Veggie garden is planted and many dandelions have been removed.

A chill morning here at ~9C/49F and it looks to be the same for most of the week, with overnight temps getting down to a few degrees above freezing. Way below normal, buy hey, welcome to Canada!

A nice 10:30 shave with me using more product than normal for a lather bomb of meh-luxury. Given my stash of soaps and creams, I should take this approach more often.

Jez you're making Helsinki sound downright tropical now!

@woodpusher

I looked up Murphy's Irish Stout for you.....it is still churning out delicious heavenly beverages at the brewery in Cork....or Cobh as its spelled in Gaelic. If you can't visit the brewery....at least make sure to order a pint. I think its smoother than Guinness.

A trip into town mid-morning resulted in a noon shave for me today. Weather is a little chillier than it should be by about 10C/18F and my house thermostat doesn't seem to impact the yard's temperature, but I'm sure it''ll be fine if I stay in the sun.

It was a good weekend, a long one here in Canada, and I'm looking forward to Kiddie chess club tonight. It's the 2nd last night of the season before we hit summer break and switch to utter chaos at the local library in a much smaller venue. Tonight, I'll be running a 1-night tnmt for the young'uns rather than having them simply play 2 games against the same opponent (once with each colour). It should be fun.

And speaking of fun..... Have a great Tuesday!

Kiddie chess club was tiring last night with non-stop action between the games and me making the pairing every 15 minutes for the next round of play. They played 4 games at 8 minutes each instead of 2 games @15 and it seems they all had a good bit of fun. One night left before summer break!

This morning's shave at 10:30am was pretty good. Good enough to be Meh in my book. LOL

The weather has turned a tad chilly with the news saying this is the coldest Victoria day week since 1967 and the weather at the end of December was warmer. Gadzooks!

In any event, it is Wednesday which means ..... Happy Wednesday!

Another (relatively speaking) chilly morning here again, with light rain persisting all through yesterday afternoon, overnight, and looking to be ongoing for most of the day ans well as tomorrow. great for the plants, but no so good for walking with our buddies.

A nice and simple shave once again this morning has me all prepared for afternoon bridge club and evening chess.

Happy Thursday!
