The wonderful excesses of acquisition disorders...and wet shaving

Nice one, Josh. The original Adagio scent was marvelous; but when he changed base, the scent changed for me as well. But glad that it works for you.

Man, you guys are talking video editing software and I just finally ordered a suction cup mount for my phone.

And I’m right there with ya, Dave! LOL

So I was planning on waiting on saying anything, but got some exciting news from our friend our in the littlest state about my recent purchase. I had it sent (from Argentina) a few weeks ago after a winning bid on the 'bay, and just got news from Alfredo that he'll be able to fully restore the blade, and there doesn't look to be any Swiss cheese on the edge, so he'll be able to get a nice JNAT edge on it. Glad I took a (an expensive) gamble on this!

1st Generation Filarmonica 14 Doble Temple

Excited doesn't begin to describe it right now...lol

Well then...in this world there are straight razors...and then there are STRAIGHT RAZORS. That sir is a very fine STRAIGHT RAZOR!

BTW, those Fili 14’s are awesome blades!
Fabulous acquisition Josh.
That is a killer score. Congrats on the Fili.
Wow, nice score!
Get caught up Josh. Adagio is a fun scent for sure. Also beautiful fili

Wholly Kaw Tempest | C.V. Heljestrand No. 7
Currently on Shave #517| Straight shave #314

Real quick one today, folks. Still awaiting some mail calls, so another free shave today. I went with one of the Wholly Kaw donkey milk soaps in Tempest along with the Wolf Whiskers Envy White 24mm. The C.V. Heljestrand No. 7 came out to play today as well. The WW whipped up a great lather…I forgot how thirsty this soap is! A full 30 second load ended up taking almost 4 tsp of water before it was ready.

Three passes, no seepage and I walked away a little better than DFS…not quite BBS however. There was no feedback from the alum, but the matching aftershave did have a little to say, (I was very liberal with it this morning), and the menthol took me by surprise. A little Tommy Bahama St. Barts to follow up, and I was ready for the day. No mail call today, so another free-for-all again tomorrow!! (I would prefer they came in spread out, but the longer it takes, the more likely that multiple packages come in at the same time.)

Thanks for reading and have a blessed Sunday everyone!

Great quickie shave Josh, and that is a fine looking razor. Wholly Kaw seems like a fun maker. We have a farm near us that raises miniature donkeys. SWMBO and I were going out to dinner with a couple many years ago (we would go out with them every Friday night for years until they moved away, they were a fun couple, and it was a great way to mark the end of a work week, or the beginning of the weekend). At any rate, we passed the miniature donkeys, and I stated that would be a good business opportunity. We could raise donkeys and milk them, then make cheese out of it. We could put a billboard along the interstate "Halfmoon Ass Cheese, and Ass Milk" and we would charge a premium and make a killing (we live in Halfmoon Township). Just silly crap like that described our Friday nights together. At any rate, we never got a copyright or a Trade Mark on it, so Wholly Kaw could call this "Ass Milk Soaps," and there would be nothing we could do about it.

OOOH! The 7! Its the 31 w/o the thumb notch right?

And congrats on the fila!

Thanks Tom...and I believe you are correct on the No.7.

LOL...I can see it now: Walt, purveyor of luxury shaving, bath and other soaps....and Ass Milk.

Sri (the owner/operator of WK) runs a pretty good operation out of NJ and is not afraid to go a little outside of the box. His Donkey Milk formula was one of the first alternative tallow bases on the market along with DG. They pretty much set the trend that we're seeing now.

Has the scent on that one become more pronounced as you've used it?[/QUOTE

So this time around, the scent was a little more pronounced, but still on the weaker side. The ozone really came through when I used it this time. If the soap scent were any stronger it would be very off-putting. As it is, it's perfectly balanced and really does put you in the mind of being out in a lightning storm by the ocean.

Great set-up, Josh. And great photo as well!

Thanks Chris! Looking forward to your thoughts on the A&E Asian Plum...we'll be using the same stuff today!

Beautiful razor Josh.

Thanks TJ!

Great shaves. Awesome acquisition.

Thank you Don!

Don't ever stop being liberal with your after shave! After Shaves were meant to splash on by the handfuls...and several at that!

Excellent couple of shaves, Josh! Adagio is easily one of my favorite scents as well, and I broke it out this morning. Great score on the Fili!
