The wonderful excesses of acquisition disorders...and wet shaving

Great read and picture. That brush's coloring like it was made to go with that soap.

Great set ups, Josh. The Fourth & Pine scent sounds intriguing, as does the Tom Ford.

Thanks Chris. The Fourth and Pine is probably the nicest vetiver I've tried, as it is not very bracing like Fine Green Vetiver or La Quatriemme Ville. The TFIS surprising me, still going as a skin scent after 13+ hours.

Great shave and picture Josh! I just noticed the last two words of your signature line, that could be taken the wrong way.

Thanks Craig...I noticed that when typing it up, but decided to just go with it...lol

Shave #491 | Straight Shave #298

Wholly Kaw Tempest...plus the Ator...excellent shave! A quick note on the scent. It's very subtle, 1/5 strength, but that is PERFECT for this profile. The immediate impression I got was memories of going out camping in the woods during a violent lightning storm. That smell of rain mixed with ozone that wafts through the air? Yeah...Sri nailed it with this soap and aftershave. If it were any stronger it wouldn't evoke those memories or feelings.

Typical donkey milk formula excellence...the Ator was in fine fettle, and with 1/2 the ATG pass done with the jectah, I had a nice BBS and zero feedback from the alum. The work computer should be GTG by tomorrow, so things should be back to normal. Have a great Friday, everyone!

Good stuff Josh. You don't hear that every day. A soap that is at level scent 1/5 but its the perfect level.

Thanks Chad! The scent is hard to catch off of the tub, and when lathering, but you can detect hints of it. I couldn't help but be taken back to camping, though. The aftershave is a bit stronger, 2/5 and really knocks back the nostalgia factor.

Good Stuff Josh, love when the ATOR makes an appearance

Thanks Dave...I'm ever grateful for the enablement on that one. It really is a fantastic shaver!

No shave today, but I did get a nice mail call. I found a decent deal on a tester bottle of Endymion Concentre online and took the plunge and it came in today. The seller was gracious enough to include some samples of some Pen's fragrances as well, Halfeti, Juniper Sling, and Endymion Concentre. I'm looking forward to giving the Juniper Sling a run out sometime in the near future.

Declaration Grooming Pure Lavender | C.V. Heljestrand No. 7
Currently on Shave #492 | Straight shave #299

Well, I kind of figured this would be the case when I smelled the matching salve to this, but this soap has immediately jumped into my top 5. Performance is typical Declaration Grooming, excellent, but the scent is just absolutely phenomenal, and it’s strong, with a SoS in the 4/5 range or higher. They weren’t kidding when they named this “Pure Lavender”. It’s similar to Mike’s Hungarian Lavender and has shades of MdC Original, but just ramp up the SoS on either. I was standing a few feet away when I spritzed the top of the tub (blooming is not really necessary at all with DG soaps since they’re already so soft, but I do anyways) before showering, and I got a very strong whiff of the soap. Just sublime stuff, gentlemen!

The WW brush only took about 10 seconds to load enough soap to shave a camel, and a bit of work and a lot of water later, I was rewarded with a beautiful shiny lather for the No. 7 to play in. The edge on this was still going good after its refresh, this being shave number 2 on it I believe. Three passes later and a little water only clean-up with the ‘jectah and I was left what I thought was baby butt smooth and just a touch of irritation along the clean-up zones. That was calmed down by the salve and a little bit of talcum. I actually brought the talcum in as I used a smidgen too much salve and was a little greasy, so the talcum took care of that problem. It’s been about 45 minutes post-shave now, and I did miss a spot along the right jaw-line, so I’m going to have to call the shave DFS+. I topped off with the new addition to the den, Penhaligon’s Endymion Concetre. I’m going to wait to see how this evolves through the day, but initial impressions are pretty positive. It doesn’t have the “sweet spice” that the original has, but all the other characteristics are there, so it’s quite nice. With it being an EdP, I’m hoping the longevity will be a tad bit better.

Have a great day everyone!

Josh, you have more soaps and frags than Dave I think.

Seriously, I too enjoy wearing frags, but SWMBO is very sensitive to them. Hence, I will wear some frag during the work week because I leave the house soon after application. I wore frag on the weekend once, and I regretted it.
