The Heysi Missive

I'd like to thank the TSC California brigade for sending warm weather our way here in Vegas. Yesterday's morning drive temp was 46F and this morning it was 64F. There's a few showers headed here as well, but we need the water and it's not chilly so I'll take it.

The Spider Williams challenge continues, with excellent results (see @BarberDave ...it's possible to not complain about Williams). I'm using less soap each morning and yet, getting better shaves than you would think.

I was worried about the blade a few days ago because i was beginning to feel some tugging....but a bit of palm stroping and the blade feels as good as new (Whew!!).

The big news is that I tried a new (to me) aftershave.....

...wow!! Good stuff. It was strange after using Nivea 2:1 for the past 8 months to suddenly try something new....it's like I'm one of the Dave's or that master of all things different every day... @Scuttlesoap (really...let's be honest...I'm not half as cool as Brian....I'm just twice as good looking...just kidding buddy...love ya).

On the home front.... we're in a holding pattern. We can see the airport..the runway is in sight....but we're circling. Landing soon.

See ya Later!!

OK......I can finally bring the news officially to the Cadre......I am not homeless!! We put an offer down on a house and received an approval on saturday. It's half the size of our current house and less than half the cost. So, on top of cutting our monthly expenses, I just banked a bunch of cash. So maybe retirement isn't out of the question, after all. We'll be updating the kitchen and the master bathroom and the flooring....but for now, we'll be sorting out where things go and what picture goes on what wall. And where my bar is going to go!!!! The house is only 5 houses down from my Mom's house so we'll be keeping an eye on her (as I mentioned on the Zoom call on sunday, I'm charging my 3 younger brothers a steak dinner each for taking on that chore). And I do have to build myself a new BBQ island. But going forward, we'll be in a much better position to enjoy a smaller house with a smaller utility cost and a much quieter neighborhood (I will have to sell my drums 😢). But as the wife has pointed out......traveling is now very affordable. So I'll be scheduling a few trips to LA this summer (with a stop at Dodger Stadium planned) and maybe even a visit to the best smelling barber shop in Tucson!

Shaving Journal:

Not much new to report....still doing the Spider Williams 100 day shave challenge. Currently somewhere in the 40's on the day count (I've lost count).....just know that 100 days would currently be @May 13th (I've missed 2 days so far and if I miss any others, it will go beyond the 13th). But for the foreseeable future......just plugging along.

See ya Later!!!

(oh, and the wife and I are planning a "bought-a-new-house" celebration dinner after we get moved into the new house....still deciding on the venue)
