Well I last shaved on Sunday so I was indeed a bit scruffy. One of my favourite razors is the Gillette Red Tip Super Speed. I am lucky enough to own the trio and they are all good shavers in their own right. I have quite a few razors that can simply mow down whatever bread growth I have on the go but few do it as smoothly as a vintage Red Tip. Loaded up with a fresh Perma-Sharp Super.

Body Shop Maca Root & Aloe was the soap of choice today with the matching AS gel. Quite impressed with how easily this soap lathers up and how slick it is. Very nice post shave feel. There is no alcohol in the AS gel and it works the charm. I know there is nothing beachfront about maca root but the aloe sure makes me remember the tropics.

Lovely two pass shave with a little buffing and BBS on a snowy Wednesday morning achieved. Happy hump day! Topped off with some Bath & Body Works Ocean EDT to compliment the beach theme...well for me anyway.

On with the Super Speed theme! Today’s ritual fell to the mighty Aristocrat Jr. this particular A’crat is made in England and dates between 1949-52. It would have come out of a #51 or #53 set but I never got the case or box with it. It is hefty and in super clean condition. It is one of the best shaving razors I own and always a joy to use. Loaded up with the same Perma-Sharp Super (1).

Soap of the day TFS Ginestra di Taormina which has a smoky tobacco flower note to it. Great scent with great staying power. I rave about the TFS brand because they really are good products and you can’t go wrong with any of them. Matching balm is great too.

Lovely smooth as silk three pass BBS shave. Ready for the weekend. Let’s get through the day, snow (if you got some) and safe home to the families. Take care and safe travels all!

Never mind the Sunday shave this the “Night at the Roxbury” Saturday shave! Gillette Rocket HD 500, made in England and of a 1955-56 vintage. Lovely indeed. Loaded up with a Gillette Rubie Platinum.

RazoRock Plague Doctor the chosen soap with the matching AS splash. Hasn’t been in rotation in a while and the dark floral is just a great scent.

Lovely two pass BBS shave on a Saturday. Topped it off with some L’Eau D’Issey Pour Homme AS balm and the EDT! Oh yeah...ready for the club! Well, my kitchen anyway...enjoy your Saturday!

Gonna have to try Plague Doctor someday. That name and artwork earns it a try. Great gear; love the razor and brush. (y)

@Graybeard57 it is a great scent and I always surprise myself with how good it is when I use it. The razor is pretty minty and the brush turned out to be pretty good indeed.

@Dave in KY L'Eau d'Issey for Men is a woody aquatic fragrance with yuzu as in top notes, along with notes of bergamot, lemon and tarragon. A middle note is spicy and woody: nutmeg and water lily are an exciting and unexpected accord in this composition. An end note carries an intense woody scent which is sharp and enriched with tobacco, sandalwood, cedar, vetiver and musk.

So say the experts, I get musk, spice, sandalwood and that fresh aquatic vibe. It is just about great all around. I can’t see anyone being upset with this one. They make an intense version also...need to look that one up.

Monday morning...off to the grind we go. However, silky smooth and smelling awesome is always tops in my book! Gillette A’crat 1948-50 found by Mrs. S in minty shape cased. Enough said there. Loaded up with a fresh Kai Super Stainless.

Stirling Sharp Dressed Man with the matching AS. So good all the way around. It’s match is English Laundry London as far as fragrance goes.

Two pass, smooth as silk shave. Ready to go! Happy work week all!

I have an Aristocrat of a slightly earlier vintage ('46-7, if memory serves), with gold replating, too. Looks like yours, and never fails to deliver close, comfortable BBS shaves. Great razors.

They really are wonderful razors. I have a 46-47 cased that is close to minty as this one and also cased...have to grab that one next! This one is all original but who did your replate? I have another 48-50 that could use an end cap and some love.

Sport Shaving in Louisiana, Baton Rouge, I think. Last I checked their prices hadn't gone up from the $80 24k gold replate I paid at least five years ago. Back Roads Gold has also done work for me, replating and repair. I highly recommend both businesses: they are honest, skilled, and very fast.
