Well today’s razor was a different kind altogether...today I grabbed the newly acquired SBS head which is the original design and not the newest iKon version. Now for those of you that don’t know the SBS is a OC on one side and SB on the other. Plus, you can flip the base plate between a milder or more aggressive blade profile. I went with the milder side first just to get a feel for it. The SBS head complete incloses the blade so there are no tabs poking out. All good but it does make for a pretty big profile. Loaded it up with a fresh Wilkinson Sword (Germany) to see how good it could be.

Today’s soap RazoRock Plague Doctor which is a great flowery scent and is perfect for this time of year. Crisp and clean. Lathered up a storm and went to work with the Simpson Colonel X2L.

The razor was indeed heavy but balanced well, the shaving angle was just a tad more than 30 degrees but I had no issues finding the sweet spot. First pass WTG was with the OC side and it was smooth and milder than I expected. Second pass was XTG both ways with the SB which was more aggressive than the OC side. Voila! Excellent DFS bordering on BBS. I will try the more aggressive side of the baseplate next time round. Take care, safe travels and happy shaves all.

I was impressed with it to be honest though that blade reveal was scary...😁

Interesting design. Though I'm not sure I'd want an OC shave all of a sudden in a middle of a pass.

I’m intrigued by the razor but not sure I want both OC and SB in the same head. I like to flip between sides during a pass so it likely would be a hinderance for me.

Ahhhh so let’s get back to the familiar shall we...today’s choice, the Gillette New SC with the long, thin handle. This razor is beautiful and balances very nicely. In this configuration it is slightly head heavy and just glides down the face. Lots for it to do beard-wise but with a nice Wilkinson Sword loaded it had no issues.

Soap of the day was Stirling Tuscany and it is a very nice soap just something so right about the scent. Lots of summer flowers in this one but a great scent. Chubby 2 whipped a great lather and proceeded to get through a slow and methodical three pass BBS shave. Beautiful. Last step a lovely shot of Gucci Pour Homme.

The long weekend is upon us with Canada Day arriving on Monday! Followed shortly by July 4th for our American friends. Take a few minutes when you can during the holidays to tell the folks you hold near and dear how much they mean to you. Keep them close and hug them lots.

Take care, safe travels and happy shaves all.
