The Dollar Store Razor Challenge

Second shave with the Dollar Tree razor in the books. You can read more about it in my journal...but here is the nuts and bolts of it!

Is it possible to have a worse shave than the annual voyage? Well, I did. No blood to speak of...but man does my face feel pretty raw. To be honest...I think it is more the blade than the razor. Seriously...I haven't shaved with the Graham Field blade...yet...but this IS the worst blade I have shaved with so far. It is not good at all. Only a two passer (north-south-north) today and absolutely hell no there was not going to be a clean-up! I came out with a serviceable shave...but that is about it. I paid attention to alignment...but I don't think that was the issue.

So...how many times are we supposed to shave with this blade? Because number two was bad and I don't see number three being any better.

In the Immortal words of Hatori Hanzo......

"This not good. Oh Sh**!!!"

The Graham Field is part of the Geneva Code as inhumane torture. Put it in a favorite razor and you will confirm the blade is HORRIBLE!

Ouch! Try another blade from the pack. They seem to be hit or miss in quality.

Hmm, somehow I mistakenly thought we were using the razor with any blade we wanted. Things just got real.

Well that sounds great...I get to use a new blade out of the pack in the morning...oh joy...

I was just inspecting the blades guys.. I would check each one out for sure! Note the big dent in this one!

Then the second one:

Not as big, but now I’m wary. The third was ok visually.

Nothing to be wary about, those are just quality assurance markings!

Shave #2

Assured $1 Razor & Assured SS blade
Graydog Gray Ghost 26mm
GD Eucalyptus & Spearmint preshave
Stirling R4L soap
Humphreys Alcoholado Maravilla
Stirling R4L a/s splash

Second shave with the Assured razor and blade combo. I would have to say that the shave was just as good if not better than last nights shave. A solid 2.5 pass run that was both efficient and better than average in comfort. Again, no nics, cuts, weepers nor any irritation. The components from the preshave and soap contributed in providing a good base that brought excellent protection and glide to the table. No complaints so far.

I feel like I’m tempting the shaving gods. I can sense they’re not happy with the shave results I’ve gotten from a pesky and ridiculous razor that has practically ZERO quality control. My luck may be running out though soon. I can feel it......

I’m still going to push on. Vaya Con Dios, Gents!!
