The Dollar Store Razor Challenge

Just realized I bever posted my first shave in this thread!

From my journal:

Razor: Assured TTO
Blade: Assured
Brush: WWBW Jingle 2 Band Badger
Soap: CBL Dragon's Blood/CF Sherlock/WSP Mahogany
AS: Stirling Almond Creme

....On to the razor. These things are really hit or miss in the QC arena, but I think I lucked out this time. The shave went better than expected, but it wasn't as good as I've been getting on a daily basis. Ultimately I walked away DFS with no blood loss and no irritation. In the video it almost looks like I didn't actually shave, but I assure you there was a blade in the razor (see what I did there). Maybe it was a combination of the camera placement and lighting in the bathroom....

So...is CBL Chris the only one here that thins that these are a good deal?

And sorry Shawn...I don't know what it was about your post..but I laughed hysterically at yours!

I think the blades are horrific. The razor makes sense. I am keeping it until it breaks or I have to ditch it while traveling.

Forgot to post in here yesterday.

I used the same Assured blade I’d had in the razor for the initial 3 shaves, but popped it into the Toggle instead, on setting 3. The shave was decently smooth, the cutting edge still just a bit tuggy when cutting. It felt kind of like a well used regular blade with 15+ shaves on it. Didn’t get close in some areas (aka had to leave them DFS) but it felt pretty similar to any other shave.

The cover photo for the video is perfect.
I think you should get the Super Dave award, with all those buffing strokes you did about 1200 passes The razor can't be THAT bad if you dont remove your face with 1200 passes.

And yes, I am truly if the mindset that this (my) razor is a great value. I would definitely use it as a travel razor (perhaps with more proven blades) and if I did not have other DE's that are far easier to use and enjoy I could use this razor everyday. My point being, if one was looking to get started with wet shaving (to save money of course) this razor might help. By no means do i consider this razor newby friendly but i am sure it would teach the idea of NO pressure really quickly.

Ah the joys of parenting

If the door comes swinging open do you have enough space that it will miss you? I remember fondly losing a big hunk of mustache to a door strike from a kiddo. Great shave Kyle enjoy your vids!
