Greetings True Believers!
This is going to be a doozy of a journal. Lots to talk about. Most of which I mentioned in my VLOG, but I know many don’t watch those, so here goes.
Yesterday started off with me going to the VFW to help put flags up at the cemetery for Veterans Day. We walked around the entire cemetery, and place a flag next to every tombstone that indicate the person had served in the military.
Then it was back to the VFW to get ready for the Kansas City Wet Shavers meetup. It was a great time. There were 8 of us, and we hung out for about 5 hours. Good food, good conversation, and lots of great stuff to sample, trade, and give away. I got to talk about a lot of my favorite soaps and there was a lot of interest in CBL, LNHC, and The Cadre!
I came home with an Oz Shaving Co set from the raffle, a T&S set and a B&M set from trades, and a Rockwell Model T that I purchased from one of the guys.
After the meetup, I went to an advanced screening of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. It was a free showing on the Air Force Base, and a week before it comes out to the public. It was very, very good and a must see for anyone who remotely likes the series. Better than the first Fantastic Beasts for sure!
I came home and checked my mail and found a slip from the Post Office saying I had a package, but it was postage due.... how does that even happen? I’m not even sure what it is because I don’t think I’m expecting anything. Weird.
Today I shaved with the Model T and the B&M First Snow. Overall a decent scent. Not a favorite, but it’ll do. And nice to have another winter theme soap. The Model T is interesting. It seems to be made like the Fatboy, but the blade is a bit flatter. So to me, it’s not as smooth and has more blade feel. At a 1 the blade is sitting right on the safety bar, and almost won’t shave. At a two, it’s almost too aggressive. Now, I’m only shaving my neck, so it’s hard to fully evaluate it, and I’ll have to wait until next month, to give it a full eval and decide if I’m going to keep it. Early signs point to no.
Now, I did have a realization today, that I’m not shaving my neck the same way I used to. And I’m causing more irritation. My sideways pass used to be more diagonal as I’d come from my cheeks. Now, I’ve been trying a directly sideways pass, and it’s not working well for me. The hair on my neck grows sideways, so that is ATG. I keep causing irritation that I’ve never had before. Time to change up my neck strokes.
We had our first snow on Wednesday night. The drive into work on Thursday was beautiful. I love snow.
But, by Thursday evening, most of it was gone. I was hoping it’d stick around a little bit longer. But, this alert just hit my phone:
I’m so excited!
