The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man

HAHAHA time is uncanny. The wife and I are working on a side business/blog where we plan to do a semi-daily Outfit of the Day. I'll incorporate the pics here as well.

Tom.... what part of VLOG, do you not understand??????

I'll third the motion for Tom to do a daily/semi-daily VLOG on Haberdashery! Motion is PASSED.

Tom, you're doing a VLOG. End of.

By not doing a Vlog...you will be in breech of contract and is a violation of TSC bylaws 42:1113.2(A). In other words...it is set in stone...you have to do it...or the consequences shall be dire!

I really need to figure out a way to get myself back into these journals. It's just not as natural for me to write about my shave. I found I much prefer the VLOG since it's easier just to talk about it. But I need to find a way to do both. I also don't take SOTD pics, and I need to get into that.

One thing I said in my VLOG that is an upcoming project for me, is to go through ALL of my razors and actually use them, and document the shave. I have some unusual pieces that are just on display and have never been used. I need to break them out and at least test them. I need to make sure that when I do that that it is available to all, and I know a lot of folks don't watch the VLOGS. SO I will try to be better at that. A lot of it is a time issue. Once I record my VLOG, edit it, and upload it, I don't really have time for setting up a SOTD, taking pics, and all that stuff. Finding the time to write it up, probably isn't too hard, if I can do that at work, but it is difficult to write up a large review from my phone.

Anybody have suggestions for making the Journal/SOTD Pic process better or easier?

I don't have any pics for the shave, but used my Gillette Techmatic band razor again today. Shave #14 I believe for this edge. I really want to keep using this edge to see how long it will last, but I'm getting extremely bored with the shaves. They are smooth and easy, but far too mild for my tastes. I'm half tempted to just throw in the towel on that razor.

The soap was Beehive Soaps Bay Rum. The scent was so light it was almost undetectable. Just seemed to smell like soap. Could be that it was due to being a sample, but the other two soaps I have from Beehive are also on the light side (but still way stronger than the BR). Aside from that, this is a top notch, Elite soap all the way around. Excellent lather and shave. Awesome slickness, and good post shave feel.

Finished up with Captain's Choice Bay Rum. Was nice to use this again, as I tend to use the other scents from CC way more than the BR. (North being my favorite). I still need to try Venture, but love everything else. IT's just that there are so many BR's out there, that even the CC only sees uses every so often when I want a BR scent. That's why I love the rest of his line so much, because the other scents are fairly unique or don't have much competition. Nobody has anything to compete with North, and of the few Sandalwoods, his is definitely tops.

Well, I'll close up with some pics of some visitors I've had in my yard and garden. Pics aren't great, but sometimes you just gotta snap a pic quick when wildlife is involved.

Happy Friday...... Happy Last day of August..... and Happy Birthday TJ!

The boys came running upstairs last weekend telling me to look outside. This was pretty rare to see deer in the middle of the day here. I usually only see them around dusk.

Ornate Box Turtle. See these often around my place.

Swallowtail Butterfly

I don't get a SOTD pic every day. And I need to get back to uploading some of the guys' pics to Instagram and the like. Just see the Journal as an update. A quick blurb about the shave and then an update. Like the pics you posted today. Love them!

Yeah...your journal doesn't have to be a long post .A couple sentences about your shave and your day. I only post a couple of pics a week. My journal entries are longer than some because I can convey my thoughts better that way. But there are days mine is short and other days I don't have one at all.

That being said...you don't have to do one at all if you don't want to...I'm fine with watching your vids and reading the comments you make on others' threads.

Thanks Guys.

I know, I'm just putting everything I have into the videos, but it's not reaching all the cadre since not everyone watches them. I feel like I'm not being accessible enough, and don't want to leave anyone out.

I enjoy the journal section and the videos. I am thinking i might start a weekly or twice a week video for a while and see how it goes but mostly I write about them.

Yeah, I'm kind of thinking about doing some sort of schedule, where I do a video or two a week and do a couple journals inbetween. Eventually I'll set up a SOTD studio too so I can quickly take pics.

I know folks get behind on my vids when I do them every day, so I'm thinking I need to cut back.

I didn"t really set up a studio. My setup is a wood box that my old regular formula LNHC soap set came in and my iphone 8 plus camera. I have several different photo editor apps on my phone that i can add effects or change focus or different tweaks to the photo before posting

I mainly just meant setting up a light box or something, or just some area I can toss a quick backdrop into. Likely will be a shelf in my closet, which it right off my bathroom ( shave den).

I set the box up on the window sill behind my bathtub. Its a 4' x 4' frosted glass window that allows natural light in and gives a bit more depth to some of my SOTD pics. I need to set up the white poster board i got at the dollar store for some more added variety though. then i think i can color change the poster board with my apps and instant backdrops of unlimited variety

I think both the videos and the written journals have their place and target audience. I think the younger folks will lean towards the videos.

I lean towards the written journals most of the time., simply because I can cover more ground in a shorter amount of time. In the time I can watch a video, I can read how several of you guys are doing. But the videos do have their place and are helpful too.

I like your scheduling idea, it would be easier to manage.

I love your window. I wish I had some natural light in my bathroom. It would make lighting in my videos so much better..... well unless it's dark outside, which it usually is, since I film in the morning, so nevermind, lol. But I still like your window for pics!

Thanks. I think so too. Just got to plan my stuff out more.

Cool pics, KJ. And don't sell yourself short on the quality of the photos - they look great to me! And how'd you get so close to the butterfly before it got spooked and flew away? Very nice!

I'm with Tim on this one. And like others mentioned, your journal entry doesn't have to be detailed at all. How 'bout just list your set up for the day, if nothing else? Maybe a quick sentence on how you like the scent of the soap, or something like that. Concise.

I do appreciate all the feedback guys!

I'm sneaky like spider! Actually tried to get him once, and he flew off, had to wait for him to land again before I got him. I started wide, and snapped as I got closer, so that whenever he flew off, I'd have the closest pic possible. Luckily I was able to get my phone about a foot away from him and zoomed in to get that shot.

Thanks. My mind wont let me do simple. I'm an engineer, and was an instructor for part of my Air Force career, so I always feel like I need to be very thorough, and ensure I get my point across. That's why in my videos, I tend to repeat myself. It so ingrained in me, that I don't even notice I'm doing it, until after I've said it.

Winner idea.

Not much else I can add that hasn’t been said already. Don’t feel pressured.

I say just do your thing. I don't do nearly as many videos as you do, but I find that when I do one I'm not as motivated to do a journal entry because I already said everything. If you do videos every day, don't worry if everyone will watch all of them. Before I had all you guys to watch and I was watching the other YouTubers, I would pick and choose based on what they were using for that shave. Just think you might be providing a back library for a day you have more people outside the cadre watching.

Nothing more to add than what's already been said KJ. As far as how to handle the photo issue, if you have a place that you can take a quick snap with the phone, edit it there, and send to your email, you can then do everything (write-up, etc...) from your workstation at work.
