The 4th "Annual" Williams Mug Soap 3017 Challenge!

Also, there's no chance in Hell I'll be able to finish this soap in 20 shaves.
Ah....I see you've learned what millions of guys have learned over the past 100 years.......Williams is legit. I made a puck last 3 months. KJ went much longer than that.

As quick as 20 shaves, and as long as 379 shaves........ there's a whole lot of space in-between there, lol.

I've got 2 more shaves on my puck and I made lather for chrissy to shave her armpits.

I don't know what synthetics you guys are using but I haven't had good luck with them. In all fairness I tried a plissoft way back when they first were a thing and it was so springy. The only other is the one I used for chrissy. It is a muhle silver synth or something like that. It is very soft on the face but so floppy it won't load. It just likes to make a mess on the puck and hold none of it.

The one I used above is the "Solar Flare" from Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements.

Well....sending a puck to Eric failed epically. The package got returned with an ominous sticker attached stating that "due to increased postal security, I would need to submit my package at the nearest postal branch for re-delivery'. I'm not sure what that means.....

Sorry Eric.

No worries. Thank you again for going to the effort of trying to get me a puck by mail. I really appreciate it.

I hope this effort didn’t land you on some government watch list. But on the plus side, maybe they’ll let you run a game show over on that Watch List too!
I’m pretty sure he is ALREADY on a watch list and that’s why the increased scrutiny.
Or perhaps a dog alerted on the package…oh wait, it was Williams not Arko the scent should not be alarming

I did have a question for you intrepid Williams latheres.
With the trend among new soaps and artisan makers being more exotic formulations designed to “feed” the skin or provide some other benefits, have you noticed your skin feeling different? I know @ShawnF mentioned the cold/dry climate and Williams having a drying effect but has anyone else noticed a substantial positive or negative impact on thei way their skin feels?

Honestly, I haven't been thinking about comparisons with more modern soaps. I will say that the residual slickness from Williams is fantastic. Great post shave face-feel.

For me, it's not just Williams. There are days a normal lather even with your soaps will dry out on my face. I'm a bit unique in that I think. Same with MDC, Lisa's, mystic waters, razorock, old Mitchell's, old AOS....

Post shave if it's a bad day my skin is just irritated and kind of burns. Feels like I raked a rough blade at a bad angle with no soap or water.
Problem is it would actually be a good shave with no weepers or anything.
As far as skinfood, Lisa's is probably the one I've tried that claims to have the most. I get a little bit of a better feel post shave, but not drastic.

Frank @Dragonsbeard and I talked some time ago about something for just my type of skin since normal moisturizers don't soak into my skin, but life happened and we kind of lost touch.

I think the newst formula of any i have tried is that unscented you did for Chrissy, but I haven't used it much.

Same here. Williams has always treated my skin well. I'd venture to say there's not much difference in skin feel afterwards, but honestly, I'd have to do a side by side comparison to know for sure.

I don't know what synthetics you guys are using but I haven't had good luck with them.
Older synthetics weren't good at all. The Plissoft synths were some of the first to be usable, but they've got much better since then. Seems everyone nowadays are using the same types of synthetic bristle. There are a few different types, but most of them perform about the same. Anything from AP Shave CO or Yaqi is a pretty good bet and can be had very cheap. Also any house brand brushes from the likes of Stirling or Maggards with have a similar bristle.

I'm not sure I've ever compared face feel after a shave. I know that my face is currently not dry after the Williams shave this morning. But we've got rain for the first time in 230 days.......so the humidity level is off the chart. I'm probably the last one to call upon for an "expert" opinion.

@CBLindsay I heard you made a version of Williams....is that still available?

Halfway through the month. I don't think I'm halfway through my puck yet.

I think everyone in this has used Williams before, but is anyone learning anything this time around? Are you trying anything new or different with your puck?

I had only used the modern Williams soap before. I'm liking the vintage pucks (and the lather) much better. Also, I had mentioned before, I'm shocked with how well synths work with the soap.
