After a filling meal of Gyros and Greek rice and potatoes last night, I am up to 157.0 lbs this morning.

Woohoo, Vic!!
Thanks Sam.

It's funny how much significance we put on these numbers considering that measuring in pounds is arguably arbitrary, and even a base ten counting system could be challenged. 81 kg doesn't seem as significant, but 80 kg does, so 176 is my new breakthrough mark.

Speaking of 'breaking through' my ARKO stick is getting close.

You are right. When it comes to "weight," we all want to get thinner. But the fact is, when that scale goes down, you are not only losing fat, you are losing muscle and bone as well. And if you are not doing some kind of resistance training, you are loosing more muscle and bone than you really would like. Two bad that there isn't a way to measure frat lose as easy as getting on the scale, sadly there is not. Whole body MRIs are way too expensive and time consuming. DEXA scans are cheaper, you still have to shell out a couple of hundred dollars. And DEXA scans are not as accurate as people think, at least in measuring body fat. I think the best we can do for now is chart body composition to see if you have an increase in muscle size or a reduction in the better known fatty deposits around the body.

Oddly enough, I heard on a podcast the other day about a method where you could take an oral supplement and then give a urinalysis and your body fat can be measured. I'll link the podcast below in case anyone was interested. The guest was a guy named Tommy Wood Ph.D. I'll also link a study from the Journal Nature about one of the uses. Anyway...it's called D3-Creatine, and from what was explained, it is pending FDA approval. But essentially it is as simple as that...take the supplement, and then pee in a cup and they can analyze the proteins in the cup (I think) and determine your body fat % with incredible accuracy.

On another note about body fat...my wife made homemade Po Tarts with a sourdough base. There ain't no losing body fat around these parts.

Need to get another scale, but now I'm going back on a zero sweets and only fast food if it is something lower calorie. No snacking besides fruit and try to cut back my portions. Gonna stick to the stricter diet for at least a month. Been sick, but going to try and start exercising again tomorrow.
Hoping we can get a house soon so I can get my own exercise equipment. Fingers crossed.

Had several good days, but ate junk food today. :(
I don't know why I've had so much more trouble sticking to my plans than I did last year.

Well it seems that my "bulking" phase needs to come to a little bit of an end. Not that I am abandoning my strength training, but the gut has gotten to max size that I really want it to and my weight itself is in an area that I am uncomfortable with. next couple of months I am going to try getting into a calorie deficit, while consuming enough protein, while I continue with my resistance training program, and add in a little more cardio (just a little). I would love to drop 30 pounds over the next three months (did 27 in one month before) but that's not going to happen the way I am doing things. So realistically, I think 15 - 20 pounds over the next few months is my goal. But to be honest, if I can get inches around my waist down...I'm not sure I care what my weight is. Going to start hard tomorrow.

157.4 lbs this morning. Honestly, given how much yummy Indian food I ate for supper yesterday, I was expecting a larger gain!
