"This wrestler" was defeated today (Day 11) by the flying monkey. The finishing move was Yorikri (frontal force out), a basic kimarite where the rikishi maintains a grip on their opponent's mawashi and forces them out of the ring. This is the most common kimarite in Sumo and is the result of about 1/3rd of all matches.

Just catching up on past day’s matches. If you want to know what an MCL/ACL tear looks like in real time, watch Asanoyama day 4 bout. Yikes 😬

4 picks separating top and bottom of the list (excluding the outlier....), so it's still anyone's contest to win!

"This City" in Japan is the largest city in the Chūbu region, the fourth-most populous city proper with a population of 2.3 million in 2020, and the principal city of the Chūkyō metropolitan area.

The "frontal crush out" is similar to a yorikiri, except that the opponent falls down out of the ring as a result (as opposed to standing), effectively crushing him out.

"A professional sumo tournament", held six times a year since 1958, where the results affect the wrestlers' rankings.

The "third level". The third lowest division of sumo wrestlers, above jonidan and below makushita.
