SUMO Contest July 2024 Basho

Asanoyama opting for surgery to repair his knee. I have been rooting for him to make the top ranks once again, but sadly I don't think that will ever happen now.
 
Surprised that Mitakeumi vs Kotozakura was not a re-match.

Also let's go Teru! I'd like to see him get his 10th basho
 
"This wrestler's" win by oshidashi over Sadanoumi today puts him at 4 wins, 2 losses on Day 6.
 
The uwatenage (overarm throw) is performed by the attacker extending their arm over the opponent's arm to grab the opponent's mawashi and throwing the opponent to the ground while turning sideways. "This wrestler" is one of two rikishi to win today (Day 8) using that technique. Of those two, he is the higher ranking.
