Strop Dragging My Journal Around...

Bummer about the JNAT edges Brad!

I thought wet shaving was supposed to save me money....

Now where have I heard that line before?

All is well that ends well. That shave ended well. You will get the JNAT down, but until then, a synthetic isn't a bad idea.

Nice journaling, Brad.

I rarely mention wetshaving in public, though occasionally it comes up. I figure non wetshavers are missing out, but it's a personal choice.

Good Reads Brad, I have heard with JNATs, that you should hone a blade, fail.... Pull your bottom Lip over the top of your head, in reverence to the Hone Gods of JNAT, drink a fifth of Joe's Tequila from Toledo, try again, make moderate improvements, stab yourself with a Fork, throw the JNAT away and get a Coticule, LOL

Nice reads

Caught up on some terrific shaves and very nice reads, Brad!

Hahaha! Does that work with single malt scotch too, Dave?

Shave #205

Together Imperfect Harmony...

Razors - TI, Dovo SS Silver Steel
Brush - vulfix badger
Soap - Proraso White
After - Pineaud Lime Sec

Well, for 205 I did decide to give the last of my recent jnat attempts, the Dovo SS, a little face time before going back to the TI. The harmony was a little imperfect...the Dovo was in good condition...but not super great, so I jettisoned that blade after the first pass. For the other two I fell back on the TI, and had a nice, very smooth shave with a simple and good soap I don't pull out too often. It is a subtle and clean smell, and it was perfect for the day! A splash of the Lime Sec was a nice finish.

The soundtrack was not, in fact, Ebony and Ivory - or any other Stevie Wonder or Sir Paul. The soundtrack for this shave was a youtube vid of Miles Davis live in Stockholm 1967, with the mighty second quintet. SO GOOD!!

Onward and shaveward....

Good shave Brad!

I only has Davis’ Kind of Blue album, but what an album it is!

Nice one Brad...those are two pretty razors you have right there, particularly the TI!

Miles - ‘nuff said!

As to hones, I recommend getting a Naniwa 8K and 12K. I believe you already have a Norton 4/8K?

Shave #206

Fame Shave...

Razor - ERN Crown & Sword
Brush - Stirling boar
Soap - B&M Latha Oceana
After - H et V C&CC splash and cologne

Well, a nice little internet surprise for me yesterday - Henri Et Victoria soaps tagged me as their "Instagrammer of the Week" for the above pic!

Seeing that past post of mine inspired me to strop up the ERN for shave 206...which has been a consistently good razor for me - one of my real honing successes! I love shaving with it - its hollowness and width make it a real singer!

This was a Saturday afternoon shave, a lazy, take your time affair, mowing down almost a week's amount of stubble. After a good soak in the shower I lathered up the fresh smelling Oceana and went at it.

What a glorious shave! A super smooth result with nary a single weeper. The alum did sting a little bit, particularly at the edge of my moustache area, where the XTG and ATG passes are a little more effortful than I wish them to be. (Those pesky, thick blond whiskers that grow at the edge of my lip are so damn uncooperative!)

But after rinsing the alum (which I let sit on my face while I rinse out my brush, wipe my razor and clean out my mug) and splashing the Cognac and Cuban Cigars on, I felt great! Headed out to see a friends late afternoon gig smelling and looking like a gentleman. One for the books!

Onward and shaveward....
