Stirling 3 piece DEs

I didn't take it that way at all. I just meant I was surprised that 300 would be considered a small run. I hope they do sell out fast, but I honestly thought that by doing 300 I would be able to prevent them selling out quickly and causing any angst from customers hoping to get one.
No angst at all here (y)

After trying the START razor from Russia I've narrowed down to wanting one of these bad boys for a certainty. Now just to decide if the hyper aggressive plate is what I want or the other one will be a fit for me............

You severely underestimate the wet shaving community... :p There are many, myself included that once we hear that a new razor or shave related product is about to come into the market, we're like Bull Sharks once they smell blood in the water. It's a feeding frenzy that is practically insatiable. Don't believe me? Watch National Geographic or Discovery Channel and look for Shark Week. Those are no sharks, that's a bunch of us razor crazies zeroing in on a Stainless Steel razor that was tossed into an Olympic sized pool. It's downright vicious and primordial!

Actually, in all seriousness it is a pleasure to purchase an item from the artisan wet shaving manufacturers when you see transparency in their effort(s) to bring a product into the crowded market of razors. Not to blow smoke up the waa-zoo but, not all in this business show this kind of candour and up front "being real" to their mission. Many just want to make a quick buck in this niche industry where buyers are chomping at the bit for the next super exotic razor or product. There are a few manufacturers that come to mind that show they are in it for the long haul such as Blackland, Timeless, Charcoal Goods and even Wolfman though I would consider Wolfman to be the upper tier in the price point category of uber niche razors.

It's refreshing to see your reports and I believe your sincerest reasons on how and why you make your brand how it is and what it is. A damn good one with solid business principles and a sincere desire to do the right thing the best way you know how. You get no complaints out of me and many others as consumers in this market. I think that your methodical and practical approach to bringing this particular razor to light will be very, very well received.

Yeah, I'm in and my Razor-Fu is deadly......⚔👊

See, I just needed my spokesman to word things properly for me. Well stated Amigo (y)

Here is an update by Rod I read elsewhere, "We're only doing the mirror finish with the first batch. The matte finish won't be until later production runs. I want to focus on making the first run perfect. They will be serial numbered with batch number as well. They are coming in leather zippered travel cases with embossed logo. The mirror finish version with a single base plate will run right around $200. To get both base plates will run around and extra $40-50 (the base plates and top caps are far more expensive to machine than the handles). I'm sure I'm missing something, but I'll post updates as I have them. They are in production though, finally. So we are getting close to the end. It won't be before Christmas though, unfortunately. I'm just stoked that we're almost there."

I used the prototype and wrote up my impressions on another site (I was not aware of TSC) nearly 6 months ago and can attest that it's an amazing razor especially if you like efficient heads. Some of the other guys also got to try it out and there was a general feeling that it looks really good. I know I am looking forward to its release and hope Rod sells out and is very successful.

I had the honor of shaving with the prototype and I can confirm it is what @AJSharp wrote up in his very detailed review. The mild baseplate is in my opinion very efficient and the aggressive baseplate I’d put in the new category called..
“ Hyper Efficient “ yes this razor occupies the same space as the 2011 R41, Ikon Tech, high gap Wolfman, the Rocnel 2019 Salior and there may be 2 more coming that would join the group.

I believe this razor is a winner but like Rod said and I agree with, this razor even with the mild plate is not for folks who likes very mild razors. Also my own personal opinion is it will be a great 2nd or 3rd razor for someone who’s relatively new to wet shaving who’s already been honing their technique on a 34C or EJ 89 and finds them to mild to knock down their thick course beards. This razor especially with both baseplates will not only challenge them to improve their wet shaving skills but also offers enough gas in the tank as far as a range of efficiency that it could be the only razor they’ll ever need. Admittedly the handle was visually a bit of a turn off for me but after using it I’d have to say it grew on me and I’d have liked to have a bit more time with it in my den but Rod needed it back so I only got 3 shaves with it. One with the mild plate and 2 with the aggressive plate. I’m looking forward to adding this razor in the World Shave Off Showdown for the “ Most Efficient Razor “ I’ll be starting up soon.
Just my 2 cents!

Great points Frank. Having tried the Taiga adjustable prototype which is currently shipping the production model, I would also consider it a "Hyper-Efficient" shave which (from what I recall) may be smoother than the Stirling razor.

Just read elsewhere that the shop settled with him and he's not out money and in the process of getting another company to produce them. The company agreed to destroy the 300 razors...........if you can trust them. Also how do you now stop China from making more as clones..........What a nightmare for him.......

I agree with all the statements made above and hats off to @Joe Hackett for his integrity and honesty. What a nightmare and like Dave said I hope the people in China don’t make a replica of the razor.

I’m supporting Stirling on this and I have no problem waiting.
Just doesn’t seem fair!
All the best Rod

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. It's not been a fun week and a half to say the least. According to the US based company, the Chinese company they work with has a strict NDA with them, and would never consider doing the razors for someone else, as we were a really small job and they wouldn't want to jeopardize the larger jobs they get from this company. I guess we'll see if they can be trusted at their word. We've spent so much time and money on design work and engineering work for this razor already that if someone copies it before I can actually get it to market, I honestly don't know what I'd do. It really is one of the best methods I've ever used to remove hair from my face, and I think it's going to compete with the best on the market.

I’d be more concerned about the word of the US company that went behind your back and outsourced....
