Steve's Journal: The Saga Continues....

Shave Time!
Razor:
Stirling DE3P6
Blade: Parker
Brush: Kingsley Pure Badger
Soap: Razorock Mudder Focker
AS: Avon Spicy

Sticking with this week's monthly theme, I pulled out a brush that hasn't seen much use recently. It still performs well, but not quite as good as some of my others. The MF is quickly fading and probably won't last the week. I really like the scent, so this will probably be one that I restock.

Quick entry as I'm sneaking it in at work. Hopefully I'll be able to check back in later tonight!

Shave Time!
Razor:
Fatip Grande
Blade: Voskhod
Brush: WWBW Jingle 2 band badger
Soap: Razorock Mudder Focker
AS: Avon Spicy

Pulled out the Fatip for the first time in I don't know how long. The shave was pretty rough. Had weepers all over and some serious irritation afterwards. The weepers all sealed up easily enough, but the irritation has persisted all day. The shave felt really close initially. Almost 100% BBS. But only a few hours later I had a decent shadow going, and now it looks like I didn't even shave today. Weird. I definitely need to figure out how to make my shaves last longer. I've had the same issue since I started with a DE, but not usually as bad as today.

In Other News....
Home inspection for a real estate deal is scheduled for tomorrow morning, hopefully we don't run into any surprises. Otherwise I've started working on the master bathroom again. This thing has been under construction for a very looooooong time. It's time to get it finished!

Willie World:
It's Willie's world, I'm just living in it!

Might just be your beard. I have the same problem.
That's what I assumed. It's dark, fairly thick, and very coarse. So it's probably just the nature of the beard. I just thought it was strange that it almost seemed to be closer immediately post shave than it has been for a few days, and then grew back faster lol.

That's the nature of the beast. If I didn't have to shave for work, I'd have a thick, dark beard, same as you. My light skin doesn't help. Lol

I never understand how some folks get shaves that last so long.
Last time I broke a Fatip out, it was also a blood riddled affair.
I usually have the same result every time I come back to the Fatip. After a few uses I'm usually able to tame it and get some really good shaves out it though.

Hope the inspection goes through with flying colors!

I too have had troubles pulling my Fatip Piccolo back out after so long with my mild razors. Seems I have go back and learn it all over again.

Thanks Chris! I've been meaning to break out the Fatip for a while now, but I kept forgetting about it. I generally only keep 3 razors at a time in the bathroom to save space, and that wasn't one of them lol.

I have two newer Fatips. I used them exclusively for about a year. I understand they are milder than the older version. It never felt aggressive to me tbh, I gave up on them after I found I was just doing too much touch up and it never got better.
I think now that I'm so used to Gillettes, that I'm getting nicks on the rare occasion I break one out. So I guess it's an odd combo for me, smooth but can bite, and not super efficient.

Mine is the newer version also. I've heard similar reviews to yours also. I think efficiency wise, I get about the same out of my Fatip as I do most of my other razors. The Fatip just bites more often lol. It's also my only OC razor...for now.

if the irritation persisted that far into the day it may be that your face was just inflamed after the shave.

Sitting in my car waiting for the buyer and home inspector to show up. For some reason on the mobile version of the site I can’t turn the Bold option off. So I’m posting with authority today I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

Today’s shave was much better than yesterday’s. I set the Fatboy to 2 and I have to say it might have been the most comfortable shave I’ve ever had. I did aggravate some of the lingering irritation from yesterday, but otherwise very comfortable. DFS so no complaints.

The MF soap is pretty much done. What’s left in the tub will be scraped out and thrown into the clown puke tub.

Willie World:
No breakfast for Willie today. He’s getting his teeth cleaned, and he’ll be going under for that. He’ll probably be losing a tooth or 2 today because a few are loose. Hopefully it helps his breath because it’s pretty bad even by dog standards lol.
