Steve's Journal: The Saga Continues....

Now that OCtober is over....hey that rhymed....I’ve put aside the Fatip for the moment. I was initially going to run straight back to my Stirling DE6P3 (that might be the correct model) but decided to switch it up. So I went with the RazoRock TTO that @GearNoir (can we tag people yet?) sent me in a super cool Star Wars/Clone PIF.

Now that OCtober is over....hey that almost rhymed....I’ve put aside the Fatip for the moment. I was initially going to run straight back to my Stirling DE6P3 (that might be the correct model) but decided to switch it up. I also pulled out some some other old friends. The Santal Royale also came from a galaxy far far away....

This was my first go with the TTO, and I must say it was a world of difference from the Fatip. Very very mild. In fact, too mild! But very comfortable. I paired it with an Astra SP, but maybe with a sharper blade it would perform better. I’ve tried to find a sharpness chart to see where the blades I have compare to each other, but everyone I’ve found is different! So maybe the Astra is sharp and this razor is just too mild for my beard...who knows!

The only issue tonight was the lingering razor burn from last night’s bullfrogging experiment. I pribably Shouldn’t have shaved tonight, but I couldnt help myself!

I think I ‘ll probably take the next night or 2 so I can heal.

Maybe I ‘ll Pull out the Tech II and see what I can do with that...

Glad to see the PIF put to good use! I’m afraid the Teck II’s angle is highly specific and even then it’s quite a kitten. Good razors though. At least you’ll continue healing up from the experiment! ?

Good shave and hope you get healed up for another crack. Tagging doesn't work yet but in the works and we do it from time to time just because.

I LOVE anything sandalwood...so despite the mild shave...it would be a winner in my book!

Took a few days off to recover from the burn. Back at it again tonight with the RazoRock TTO loaded with an Astra SP. same deal as the last go round with the TTO, I only switched back to the WSP Barbershop Formula T soap and AS.

I do like this razor as it is very mild and very forgiving, I just can’t seem to get anywhere near close enough. After 3 passes I was comfortable, but still had noticeable stubble. So I took a fourth pass with the Fatip and cleaned it all up. The end result was a nice close shave. BBS almost everywhere with just a few spots here and there. Very little irritation.

My takeaway is is that the TTO is a good razor to use when you need to heal up, but not an everyday driver for me at this point. This probably would’ve been a great razor for me to learn on initially.

Otherwise this weekend has has been relatively quiet for me. Had a few adult beverages, spent some time with some friends and family, but all in all nothing too exciting. It was a good change of pace from the last couple of weeks!

After a month of staying consistent, I’ve decided to switch things up yet again. Since my parents are going to Atlanta to visit my sister and her boyfriend Chris (currently lurking here as Gonzo44), I decided to give the Super Speed Chris let me borrow one last time before I send it back with them. I do believe he told me this was a 1940’s model, without a date code. Don’t quote me though, that could be way off!

This was a great shave! A little irritation in the usual spots on the neck, but nothing crazy. I’m really learning the art of letting the razor’s weight do the work. No nicks or cuts to speak of, and pretty damn close to BBS. I wish I had more time to really dial this razor in...actually I should say I wish I started using it sooner. I’ve had it for about 6 months and I’ve only used it once before this. That was back when I was really struggling so I moved on thinking it was the razor. But let’s be honest, it was the technique! That being said, I’ve found what may be my first target to hunt in the wild (or on the giant online auction thingy). If you’re reading this Chris, I’ll let the wife know it’s your fault! And a little bit of my sister’s fault as well since I think it was her idea to bring it up to Jersey on the last visit lol.

In other news, I’ve decided to turn a coffee can into a blade bank. I’m open to suggestions and tips on making it a bit more stylish!

That sir is a solid shave setup! That Super Speed will give you some really good shaves, and to be honest...shouldn't be too hard to find or too expensive in the wild.

And dude...that coffee can exudes a sort of rugged manliness...why would you want to do anything else to it?

The Super Speed has definitely hit the top of my want list Don!

As for the coffee can, it does remind me of the cans my dad used to keep all the extra nuts and bolts in. There were always a few after assembling furniture/toys/appliances. Because, you know, they always give you extras right? ???
