Insomia shave with SV Mirto de Sardegna, soap and AS. The brush is my beloved Milk Churn. The razor, with all the plating gone, dates from the early 30's, and is one of the best razors Ive used. It clamps down that blade like there's no tomorrow. Im not big on the theory of blade chatter, but this razor shows what is possible in a oidamce. Its terrific. Get one!1093.jpg

Saturday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
Musgo Real Shave Soap
Jayaruh #222 Synthetic
AliExpress Double Open Comb
Gillette Nacet
Cold Water Rinse
Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Duru Cologne

The Musgo Real Shave Soap face-lathered well with Jayaruh #222 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the AliExpress Double Open Comb razor and the Gillette Nacet Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Duru Cologne. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Saturday morning - close to being a Grand Freeze:

Hot shower
Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
Super Speed/7 O’Clock day 9
Bundubeard Kudu’s Kick SS
Gold Bond Moisturizer
Floid Vigoroso AS Splash

Guys, check out the review on the Kudu’s Kick that I wrote and I think you’ll be very impressed because it’s so nice. Even though I’m not a big fan of glycerine soaps these Bundubeard ones and a few others are exceptions. The scent is a delightful blend of exotic coffee and peppermint, the lather explodes off my brush, it’s so slick, the menthol sensation is heavenly, and the postshave feeling is very comfortable. The Gold Bond moisturizer is so soothing and it doesn’t lack menthol either. Finally the Floid Vigoroso aftershave went on with an icy cold menthol punch along with its delightful old school barbershop scent that I love so much. Three passes gave me a dynamite BBS shave that I enjoyed from start to finish!

Wishing you all a great Saturday - be well and stay safe!

Overall Rating: ★★★★☆ (Great Shave)
Smoothness: ★★★★☆ (Very Smooth)
Irritation: ★★★☆☆ (Mild Tingle)

A very quick shave today with a face lather of Palmolive shave cream. A pleasant scent and it does an okay job. Not as good as a quality shave soap with a thick, rich lather, but it works. 1 1/2+ days of growth. 3 passes on the cheecks and 2 on the neck.

Time of Day: Morning ☀️
Blade Uses: 2
Passes: 3

Razor: Proof Benchmark
Blade: Gillette Perma-Sharp Half DE
Soap: Palmolive Men Classico Cream
Shaving Bowl: Face Lather
Brush: PAA Moon Stryker

Pre-Shave 2: PAA Cube 2.0 Non-metholated
Aftershave: PAA Alum Solid Block No slip Grip.
Aftershave 2: Thayer's Cucumber Facial Toner - Witch Hazel

As I said, if there wasn’t any menthol in this stuff it would probably be much better because that’s what spoils the scent. Also the soap can be a bit tricky to lather compared to most of my other soaps. The aftershave smells pure Shulton Old Spice when I first apply it but after a minute the menthol starts pushing the scent away and that’s what I frigging hate. The skincare is also not that great either. 🥲🥲

Jeff
Hey Jeff,
What Old Spice dups are your favorite? Stirling, B&M, something else?
