Soap/cream of the day

Dr Jon Cucumber Melon

Scents a little too candy for me, but perfectly ok for a summer day. Performance wise, this soap shows you don't need a ton of fancy ingredients to make a really good soap.

I got a sample from Dagwoodz, being the perfect travel size, I'll being using all next week on our holiday to Naxos, Greece.

Uncle Jon's not Dr Jon, I obviously got this confused with the 70's rock musician.

Now I know what it smells like - Jolly Rancher Watermelon candy, which if you're going to smell like candy is a darn good one to smell like.

Dr. John (Malcolm John Rebennack) just passed away on June 6th--his influence went well past the 70's to the present and he was not merely a rock musician--blues, pop, jazz, boogie-woogie, and rock and roll all with a New Orleans flavor. As a boy he was exposed to King Oliver and Louis Armstrong. About a month ago, after he passed, I had an extended conversation with a woman who hung out in New Orleans back in the day and who had a chance to see him with Professor Longhair who influenced him musically and stylistically. He was very influential and was highly sought out as a session player, backing such bands as the Rolling Stones, Sonny & Cher and Carly Simon to name just a few. He won 6 Grammies and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He actually was a very big deal though a bit under the radar.
