Grooming Dept Encens Agrumes
Kairos base

This is the first base in my clash of the Titans series--shaves with the best of the new Artisan bases.

This soap makes a glossy lather that gets some volume to it as you add water. It is slick, very slick. I love the way it shaves--very comfortable. It leaves your face well hydrated. Most people (apart from a few people like @Dave in KY) will love this base. Dave has gotten lit up by GD soaps in the recent past and appeared to be unhappy with the maker's response after communicating with him.

I have also communicated with Mohammad but my communications had more to do with the unstable business model employed at Grooming Dept. You cannot rely on supply. Formulas keep changing etc. I also took issue with his scents. For me, Grooming Dept is hit or miss when it comes to scents. I love Sandalwood Fig Musk, Citric and FrankinLime (a collaboration with Maol) but do not particularly like Sandalwood Nobile as an example. Other seem to love Sandalwood Nobile so there is that. Encens Agrumes is a positive experience for me with its reliance on citric notes.

Whatever complaints I may have, Grooming Dept makes a top tier base. Kairos is Mohammad's new tallow offering and it is garnering top reviews. Ruds gives it the stratospheric rating of 102.

Diggin' the "summer" soap!
Plus, the geologist in me love's eyeing up the individual mineral crystals in your granite counter top background.
I spy the quartz, orthoclase fledspar and perhaps a wee bit of Na-plagioclase (Albite), some hornblende amphibole, and some biotite mica.
I would have a difficult time concentrating on my shave if that were my bathroom counter top!
