Shawn's forging shed

Not sure how many people are even remotely close, but this July there is a knife/historical expo in little valley ny.
I most likely will not have enough to set up a table, but there is going to be all kinds of people there selling. I am definitely going to be there hanging out with Walter and making new connections with other makers.

Here is a link to the site with more information if anyone is interested.

I am planning on going. I was speaking to Max Krug on Monday about it. His grandfather was a straight razor maker for a couple of the Case companies as well as having his own shop back in the day. Looking forward to talking to John Burrell again (Top Flight straights from Burrell Cutlery).

So it has been forever again... but here i am!
And with photos hahaha!

So first thing, the new oven is amazing. I drilled 5 handles today without dulling a single drill bit. Having the means to properly anneal them is a game changer.

And for a taste of what I'm working on.
This is only rough ground to an 80 grit finish with a quick soak in the gator piss to show the pattern, but you should get the idea.
Still needs heat treated and finishing but the results are pretty cool so far.
This is the blade that will be attached to that handle I showed earlier.

Really nice! My Christmas gift from some years ago is still going strong.

but with your resin magic..
The handle is a Wa handle that I purchased. The resin stuff is something I don't have the time and probably not the patience for, so I buy pre-made scale slabs, blocks, or in this case the full handle.
If you want one like that we can work something out, just know that i only made the blade.
